2.5 stars. We were going to go to Stacks for the five dollar martinis special and grab some food but it was an hour wait. So, we’ve wanted to try Lincoln Flats and we walked over there. It was about a 20 minute wait so we grabbed a couple of drinks from the bar. I got a Moscow mule, and my wife got a White Russian. We closed out that bar tab before we headed to the table and those two drinks for $25 plus tip (I left $5 for tip). The drinks were weak, If they used a middle or top shelf alcohol, you certainly couldn’t tell. Far too expensive for what they were worth. For example: At the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago a Moscow mule is $11.30. It’s $12 at Lincoln Flats and it is weak. Very, very disappointed in that.
Now, for the food: I ordered the white bean chicken chili, And my wife ordered the tomato bisque. Both were very good. The white chili tasted like a typical white chili does. The tomato bisque almost tasted like the sauce for chicken Tikka masala. It was delicious.
We ordered the Asian salad with chicken and a side of asparagus. The salad was very good however tasted similar to the Asian bok Choy salad that people bring to parties. It was good but it didn’t stand out. Next time I think I’ll try the ribs. We also had asparagus which they served in an ample portion.
The service was very good although the bartender was a bit dismissive to me. Not sure what that was about. Could’ve been he had too many things going on. I didn’t take it personally but I certainly noticed it. The atmosphere is nice.
I’m not sure if we would go there again, if we did, it would be for food but never for drinks. Charging Chicago prices for weak drinks is not my idea of a good time. And with all the amazing dining options in Valparaiso, I think we could do much...
Read moreMy wife and I went to dinner at 5:30 pm on a Tuesday. Only a couple of tables were taken so we were seated right away. It was a nice day, so outdoor seating was available, but we chose to sit inside.
The restaurant is modern and very well kept, the waitstaff was friendly and helpful. Our server came right over and gave us our menus and took our drink order. When she returned with the drinks, she took our order. I ordered the Raspberry Lemonade, and it was delicious. Not too sweet, it was perfect.
My wife ordered the Hoke Poke Bowl, and I ordered the Cheesy Napoleon along with a side of Mac and Cheese. We started with an order of Dippers to share, and I ordered a bowl of the soup of the day, Cheese Broccoli.
The Dippers are fantastic, I ordered the house chips with my burger, and they are by far superior compared to the chips. These are a must get item, very tasty. My soup was really the only disappointment, everything was finely blended and because of that the Broccoli was only strings of fiber.
After I finished my soup, we were served our meals. My wife loves this meal, she says it is very tasty and there is a lot of Tuna. My burger looked and tasted terrific. The bacon on the burger was very flavorful and the burger was juicy. I have had better homemade chips, and next time I will go with the Dippers instead. The Mac and Cheese was OK, nothing really special.
This was a good dinner out. It is a nice place to take your partner, the food was fresh and tasty, and the price was reasonable. We...

This place was so outwardly prejudiced - from the staff to the customers. Not that you can expect anything less in Valpo. My mother and I went here to catch lunch at a new place, and upon arrival, the second main entrance door was either locked or REALLY REALLY stuck. One of the girls comes to the door and asks “how can I help you?” Confused, I respond “oh, are you all open?” Nervously, she responds “oh I just didn’t know if you wanted to sit inside or outside.” Inside would be preferred on an 85 degree day of course. She instructs us to find a table and upon entry, the other five employees and the customer (older white gentleman) stop mid conversation to look at us. Same for the table towards the back with several older white individuals. We sit down in sheer disbelief at the immense prejudicial environment we have ignorantly walked into. I WOULD NOT recommend any person of color come here, at least during the day. Maybe it isn’t as noticeable at night when everyone’s had a couple shots, but this is not an “all inclusive” spot as sign in the door suggests. Sad to see that we are...
