The Orchid was introduced to me by a friend who said it was one of their favorite places. We had a reservation so I couldn't tell you about a wait time. Fairly private seating, booths and tables were placed well, your attention was easily with your table and it wasn't easy for you or others to view one another table. Great atmosphere and wonderful staff. I always look at the lighting in restaurants and the decor; the Orchid has baskets/barrels style lighting fixtures that stuck out to me. They hang from the ceiling that was authentic and clever idea IMO. The lighting fixtures went well with the aesthetics of the restaurant, not a dark place. My friend had a "Gimlet" cocktail; not to familiar but it included Gin and fresh basil, it was wonderfully made. I was basic with a tall glass of vodka cranberry w/lime. Drinks came out fast. The appetizer we had were the spring rolls, the only thing I didn't like was the odd number for a spring roll appetizer, I feel they should make an even number of rolls giving dates can get an equal share. I predict that most dates are having the conversation with this appetizer of who gets the extra spring roll or cut in half, hard decisions because they are very VERY good!! I had Pad Thai; that was wonderful serving size and amazing taste. They do a hotness scale from 0-5, I did a 2. Amazing taste Great peanut sauce, wonderful egg noodles and the peanuts came crushed on the side for your own adding to the dish. It's one of my favorite restaurants in the area for pad thai now as well. The Service was great, always checked our party for any needs, orders came with great timing; Giving a perfect amount of time of visiting and eating. With a price and a tip that really matched the service and food. 2 people I expect to pay 35-50 w/out cocktails and 50-75 with cocktails. And they hit that limit really well. Definitely a place worth going multiple times. Highly recommended for dates, but also a wonderful place for any occasion...

The wife and I have been a frequent flyer to Thai Orchid since 2016.

Five years later and Thai Orchid has remained the best and consistent quality Thai food around town. We've visited others and we always come back to Thai Orchid. We are primarily take-out customers.

What can I say about the food? From the Thai food to the Sushi - The food is fresh, flavorful and satisfying. All what you expect of good Thai food. Portions are just right. They hold up as left overs the next day as well, which I appreciate. Good luck having leftovers, though.

I'm big on curry and let me tell you, I could close my eyes and pick one of their generous curry options and walk away happy. The balance of richness of their various curry sauces with the fresh veggies cooked the right amount for their texture and flavor - They're each unique and fantastic in their own right.

The noodle dishes, the stir fries, the various appetizer options all satisfy. I had their smoked salmon nigiri once and I still think about it. Delicious.

Customer service is top notch as well. Staff are friendly on the phone and face-to-face. Everything is packaged up with care for transit.

They cater to tastes, as well. For example, we asked for really spicy dishes and the lady who took our added a 'spice tray' that consisted of containers of chili oil, chili flakes and spicy fish sauce. Genius! Our dishes were perfectly spiced and then they gave us the tools to go even further.

Back in the before times, we additionally enjoyed our sit-down restaurant experience. Love the décor and ambience. Nice drinks. They've opened back up now, too, so if that's your thing.

Go eat...

The day I found out this place existed nearby, I was super excited to try it and went in the same day. I already knew what I wanted hours before even going after taking a look at their menu online. After making a call and doing an order pickup for pad gra prow with “chicken” and mango sticky rice. I got home to see they gave me beef instead of chicken. My receipt did not look right. Not only that, I was charged an extra $3.50 for beef which is more expensive than my original order with chicken. After calling and speaking to “Megan” to confirm what I was charged for. She stated the different price points for chicken and beef. She said I was charged for beef. But after reminding her that I specifically asked for chicken over the phone, Megan immediately became defensive and tried to correct me stating that I said beef to her. For one that is completely unprofessional and rude to correct the customer, as I know what I had said. And for two, my wife was standing right next to me as I was ordering and she can confirm I also said chicken. If I had ordered beef like Megan insisted then she would’ve had to mention the upcharge of $3.50 which she didn’t. She clearly tried to up charge me or does not pay attention to detail when taking orders over the phone. She continued to argue with me that I said beef and repeatedly put me on hold as I was talking until she acted like she could not hear me speaking. I spoke with a manager who said “I will talk to her.” But after this being my first impression, terrible customer service, up charging my order, and the wrong order, I do not see it worth coming back here to...

I work in downtown Vancouver and my co-workers have told me exceptional things about Thai Orchid, so of course I had to give it a try. Well, my high expectations were exceeded. I didn't think much of the interior from the outside, though it did look modern and dimly lit. The inside was clean and trendy. It didn't look like your typical authentic Asian restaurant, but the atmosphere was pleasant anyway. Even better was the service. All of the waiters work in tandem so wonderfully that it's even hard to tell which one is in charge of your table. The female waitress with gauges (I did not catch her name) is one of the sweetest people I've ever met in a restaurant. I'm always suspicious of fusion places since they tend not to excel at one type from my experience, and wasn't too pleased to see that they serve both sushi and Thai food. However, they have the best yellow curry I've ever tasted. I ordered it with scallops at a spicy level of 2 since I don't tend to handle extremely spicy things well, and I got a kick of flavor to complement the soup base itself. All of the ingredients were fresh and blended together so well to create such an enjoyable dish. Their menu looks so delicious and now that Thai Orchid has proven themselves to me that they have a great establishment, I really want to keep coming back to try most of the menu. I look forward to discovering more foods here!

Our server was very nice and helpful. We had Andrew as our server. I would definitely recommend the thai iced tea, Jasmine tea with lemonade, po pia sod with shrimp, and their spicy tuna hand rolls. My only complaint is the parking. Be prepared to pay to park except for Sundays. It can be hard to find parking at times. Maybe take all one car if you can or go a little early. There was a 30 minute wait but that is to be expected because of how busy they were. Update 5/10/2022: Same as above. No wait which was nice. They are typically very busy. I had the rainbow roll and the Lemongrass chicken pad thai which was very delicious. The 3 1/2 spicy level was a good amount for me. Especially if you like spicy food but don't want to feel like you can't eat it without it being too spicy or anything. The orange chicken is also very delicious. We got the combination appetizer which was good but I'm not sure if I would get it again. Only because I like some of the other appetizers personally but they are still delicious. The pear mojito is amazing. The choco chocolate drink is a nice sipping drink. The basil gimlet is good is you like a strong basil taste. The power word tiki is good but definitely a good sipping drink.

One of the best Thai eateries this side of the river. Pad Prik is very good. Tom Kha soup is great. It needs to be at least 3 stars for spice. Wife is good with that. I like spicy. 4 stars on the entree is spicy but just right for me. #38 with no rice, broccoli or cabbage is a fab choice. Wife and I like pad see Ew. Even though she likes mild she gets it with three stars. Be careful ordering a dish with fish. They serve some with the head, tail and the whole shebang. BUYER BEWARE: Thai Orchid is charging $22 for a Manhattan! And it's made with mid-level sweet vermouth (Noilly Prat). A Manhattan at Morton's Steakhouse off Madison Ave in MANHATTAN is only $19. My wife's Tom Collins was $16.50! I spoke with the manager who said that's what the owner is charging now. That's outrageous. The manager was sympathetic and discounted our drinks. Pre-covid Thai Orchid had some fantastic craft cocktails at appropriate prices but the great mixologists are gone and the stock has dwindled significantly but some cocktails can be made. But going forward I'll stick to the 337 cab wine which is lovely. Parking is a bit challenging. Check out my profile for more great eateries and craft cocktail bars.
