I come from the Bay Area and in my 7 years I have found at best barely passable sushi after going to most of the top rated places in the Portland area. This place is not only unique but incredibly delicious. I’m shocked, most people reviewing sushi in the area have no idea what they are talking about and post wordy reviews to mediocre places. This is not one of those places. The service, the variety of sake, the preparations—seriously top notch. They may be a bit more pricy than other places but it’s well worth it.

Edit: I wish I could give 6 stars. I was just watching this anime called “Restaurant to another world” and it really reminded me of this place. The food descriptions were very similar at least.

Sushi: best in Portland metro Tempura: best I have ever had Agedashi tofu: best tofu I have ever had Service: top notch

This place is making me develop tastes for Japanese dishes I didn’t even know I would like. I’ve found myself going every other day recently. That will probably continue into the foreseeable future.

Edit edit: after reading reviews of people who have no idea what they are talking about or are too poor to go out I’m astonished they find time to review despite not having any idea about quality or what something good costs.

If you’re reading the poor reviews, these people have no idea what they are talking about. Good things cost money. Many Americans don’t know what good sushi is or how to tell the difference. That’s not Sushi Mo’s fault. They are at the very least exactly what they should be, and at best the best Japanese style restaurant in the Portland metro. Don’t be dissuaded by people who talk and...

I went here for dinner with my kids and husband. We are a family of six, our youngest being 1 years old and oldest being 14. The sushi was decent and had a nice platting. Our toro was still frozen and some of our sashimi was icy. (My girls shared a teriyaki plate since they are small) So we had orders some hand rolls and 2 teriyaki plates and sashimi. With out informing us prior we noticed our bill was more then we ordered $45 dollars more to be exact. When my husband went to add a tip they worker came and said “oh we added 18% gratuity. I was displeased because I have never seen or paid gratuity with just my family of 6. I know it is expected on party’s of 8 or more but never on 6. I called the place back the next day and asked when gratuity was charged and they said on party’s of more then 6. I explained to him that I was charged on a party of 6 and then he stated of “oh yes we charge on 6 or more” I explained how I was a little confused and disappointed how this was not explained to me before we sat down since it’s not a normal practice restaurants in the area take. He said next time you come I will not charge you if you say something to me before but that there was nothing he could do now. I know good Sushi is not cheap but this place is over priced and clearly adding tips to their discretion without letting their customers know before. I paid $324.00 for some decent sushi with plastic cups… I’m not very pleased, its not about the cost because clearly we paid …it’s about...

Felt tricked. Came here because it had the look and feel of a cheap sushi restaurant. My wife and I were going for a cheap night out. It was pretty shocking to see that the plates of sushi start at about 6.50 for their cheapest plate. My wife and I ordered a modest amount of food thinking it must be really good for the price. It wasn't, the plates were something that aren't worth more than a buck twenty five at your standard sushi go round restaurant. They don't even use real wasabi, which for the price you would think it would be absurd to serve low quality cuisine. We were there for half an hour, spent 50$ on what was hardly any food. 20$ at other sushi restaurants will give you 3 times the amount of food. We were just so upset for what we got for what we paid we couldn't stay in there. We are foodies so we go to a lot of different places every week. Expensive restaurants are part of goings out on a regular basis as well, we expect to get what you pay for. But to sum up our night out, we both immediately started to feel sick to our stomachs. And ended up going home still hungry and feeling gross from the food. Then keep in mind, an amazing top floor restaurant in downtown Portland like departure with views of the whole city and amazing service runs nearly the same cost as what this restaurant charges(granted we're happy to spend north of 100 at departure for a meal for two because of the experience, and the cocktails are...

I have been to this place on numerous occasions and I have to say then do a pretty good job on presentation. However I think that tends to sway most people's perception, as the quality of the food is mediocre at best. Ordered a Sushi Tower it came with some Poke on top that was absolutely dripping with an overly sweet sriracha sauce. Absolutely inedible. To add insult to injury it had just a few flakes of imitation krab salad and 2 little chunks of avocado in it. 85% rice. $20 thank you. I'm not sure what America's obsession is, putting Sriracha on Sushi. The Japanese will be a horrified to find out that's what we're doing. You can't even find Sriracha in Japan. I've deduced that people rate sushi restaurants on how spicy their sriracha sauce is. It looks like you've all been duped. The pot stickers were also in edible. They were boiled and not even drained. Filled with unflavored water soaking wet. The tempura was overly battered and undercooked. It was still wet and pasty on the inside, an absolute turn off. The quality of their fish is the same as most places. Previously frozen and sometimes not thawed out all the way. Add to this that some rude waitress refused to seat us an hour and 15 minutes before they closed. Seemed a bit lazy to me. I won't be returning. I see this time and time again. People around here just don't seem to know any better

Mediocre sushi. Ordered for pickup during the 2020 pandemic. The Vancouver Tower is described on the menu as "assorted fish over crab salad & avocado on a bed of sushi rice w/ special house sauce and various caviar." The 'assorted fish' was a pile of fish bits in spicy sauce, mostly unrecognizable. The 'various caviar' was a small pile of red tobiko - no other caviar. The 'house sauce' appeared to be about five kinds of sauce of varying color. Overall, very disappointing. The rice was OK regarding seasoning but was a bit too dry and hard-packed. Two pairs of nigiri used fish that was sliced very thin, maybe half normal thickness. Purported to be salmon belly and yellowfin belly, they were pretty underwhelming in their fattiness. The vegetable maki was nice, salmon skin maki was fine, and the sea scallop nigiri was good. Finally, the Jack in the Box roll. Described as "Osaka inspired square-shaped roll w/ crab, avocado, tobiko topped w/ salmon, lemon, micro greens, red radish & citrus aioli". Result: meh. Too much rice, which was too hard (I tried to break some rice off to improve the fish:rice ratio, but the rice just separated from the topping in chunks). The salmon was barely detectable and I couldn't find any tobiko. The overall taste of a bite was mostly lemon.
