I bring a group of coffee lovers here because they not only have free refill drip with a back shelving unit by the carafe's where one can grab a coffee mug, they also serve lattes and mocha's. The bagels are plentiful and they sport a decent variety. They also serve breakfast burritos, omelettes, skillets and egg dishes. Their prices are very reasonable. Being gluten intolerant, I have a hard time eating out. I believed I wouldn't be able to eat anything here, in part due to so many restaurants adding pancake batter or flour of some form to their eggs to make them fluffier for the rest of the guests. As to the comments on the TV shows, I was there to visit friends so I didn't notice what was on the boob tube. I would recommend this little restaurant for those who are gluten intolerant, within one's known limits, as there are gluten products made and served here. I don't believe this place is safe for celiac's due to gluten foods being in the kitchen. For a frame of reference regarding my own sensitivity, I can't have foods which have been in the same fryer with gluten foods. I can have fried foods made in a gluten making restaurant when the fried foods are made in a vat separate from the breaded foods. If the food I'm eating has directly touched where gluten food was previously cooked or prepared with no cleanup between, I will react. Basically, I'm fairly sensitive. The point is, know your own limits. I am able to eat here and have no problems. The staff were very helpful in letting me know what was safe for me. The omelettes are made in skillets, which pancakes or other bread products are never cooked in, so no fear of contamination there. Omelettes are usually served with toast, which I can't have. They don't have gluten free bread, but they did comp my drip coffee because I couldn't have the side dish. In all honesty, that omelette was large enough, that was no problem. It was filled with chunks of ham, cheese, onions, and any other veggies I spotted on the menu. It was delicious. My husband was able to have the two full pieces of toast that came with his omelette and he said the bread was flavorful and toasted just right. If you order a mocha, they give you chocolate covered espresso beans with it. Not many places will do this. The staff was very accommodating of our large group and did well at remembering who ordered what. They were also friendly and smiling the whole time. That kind of service is also, unfortunately, hard to find. For these reasons, I will continue to return to this little Bagel shop as long as we can. I would love to see gluten free bagels, or Franz gluten free bread brought in, but the eggs, coffee, and great service will keep me...
Read moreI was a regular for years, up until the restraunt was sold. But even then I gave it a try since I had become freinds with Donna and her freindly staff of cooks and cashiers. I have seen the dreadful changes since, and will not do business with them again. There used to be a variety of bagels to choice from. Now it has dwindled down. Your order used to be served in a timely manner. Now you better give yourself at least an hour for your lunch break. (or better). And you rarley had any problems with your order. Now, you better check your order before you leave. But my biggest problem with the new owners ( the Syrian women in charge) is the way she treats her employees, and a select few customers. Just from experience, I have since FAT PEOPLE, DIRTY PEOPLE (on thier lunch break) PEOPLE THAT MIGHT HAVE A NON CONTAGEOUS SKIN DISORDER, come up to the counter to order, and that arrogant #%*@h will walk away, make them wait, until the American tends to them. But what really killed me was when a lady/ regular, comes in with her Down Syndrome child,. and was treated in the same fashion as the rest i listed above. HEY STUPID !!!!!! THE CHILD WILL NOT GET YOU SICK!!!!! You run a business that deals with the public, you can't discriminate. I really hope people that read this, and go there stop and watch, just to see if I'm telling the truth. SERIOUSLY. SIT...
Read moreSunrise Bagels is, probably, my favorite spot to eat in downtown Vancouver. It feels like a small breakfast Cafe, but houses some of the best and most unique food around.
Sunrise Bagels very much feels like an open-air Cafe with its large windows, spacious seating, and chill atmosphere. The food only makes the experience better.
Sunrise Bagels has a signature - everything you order comes out on a bagel. One might think that putting every type of food on a bagel would not be pleasant, but that assumption would be wrong. They make all their bagels in house and fresh. That means that you're getting a killer burger, sub, or breakfast sandwich ON A BAGEL. What more could you ask for?
Their variety is moderately good. They put all of their burgers, subs, and egg sandwiches on a bagel of your choice with all the fixings. They have specialty sandwiches and more. They also have more traditional selections like rice and chicken for the boring people who don't like Bagels.
Once you have something from sunrise, you'll never be satisfied with...
