I've written many reviews in the past two decades, but this one is for the books. We're very well-traveled and well fed. We travel to experience wine and food. Italy, Denmark, France, the UK, Costa Rica, Brazil, the list goes on... we've had some stellar experiences in the past 20 years of dining around the world. It is difficult to make it on my "top 10 list" and the Top 10 list only happens after a few+ amazing experiences. DEDIKo broke a record. In one single meal, it went from our "first time here" to my TOP 3 list! Absolutely the best restaurant in all of PDX.
We've tried twice in the past two years to get into DEDIKo without a reservation (our fault and our loss). On a whim, we grabbed a reservation yesterday - the best decision EVER!
First, we were with our two besties, one who works in wine-country. He isn't impossible to please with wine, but it is certainly a challenge to impress him at times. We shared bottles of the Marani Gemieri and the Vaziani Tsinandali... speechless. Again, he's well versed in wine and difficult to impress and I've traveled the world, specifically to visit wine countries in France, Portugal, Italy, etc. The wine will knock your socks off.
We took a family approach to dinner, deciding order many menu items and split them between the four of us (best decision ever). First came Lamb Mtsvadi. What even is this dish except heaven? This was followed by the Chicken & Pork Kababi which was equally wonderful. I thought we were impressed until the Adjaruli Khachapuri came... hands-down one of the best bread dishes I've had in my life. The Khinkali was a dumpling so good, we wanted to drink the broth from our plates! We aren't the "order again" types, but we had a second Adjaruli Khachapuri and didn't regret a bite. For dessert, the table split two orders of Baklava and for someone who hates desert, I was smiling!
Hands down the best restaurant on the Western Coast. Absolutely get a reservation now and enjoy a most...
Read moreDisclaimer: we hope this message will be delivered to the owner and/or supervisor, and we will be happy to came back, and change our opinion. We had pretty bad experience.. Friday. We call and reserve table for 7 people. Been offered and confirmed reserved table for 5. That is fine as we had 2 kids. We arrive at our time and been told that there was overbooking, and there is nothing they can do about it. (Apparently, for reservations -- Open Table or RESY are much needed asap.) Been offered table in the court-yard, which looks more like an office hallway. Decided to wait table, found one -- which was for 4. Somehow squeezed. Started to order food..to our surprise -- majority of items are not order-able as it is:"..soft-launch..". Well, ok - understandable.. But maybe just do not show this final menu to the guests and simply print items, which can be ordered?! Most of us wanted to order khachapuri adrjaruli (famous Georgian dish) -- to our another surprise -- they were out of it. At 7 p.m., on Friday..!? Somehow ordered.. our dishes started to arrive, but even here there were inconsistencies: 2 orders of soup were brought with at least 10 min difference (we even had to re-ask about it), same with khinkali -- some were almost cold -- other were brought burning hot. Soup (kharcho) was under-seasoned. Khinkali tasted good, but with so many "frustrations" -- we just did not pay much attention to it as overall experience was so bad.
p.s. At the beginning I joked that we are looking for the bonus because of this strange situation with reservation...I received reply: "Would you like some water...". That made us laugh. No comments on that :)
p.p.s. We sincerely understand that things are still being settle down, but we hope this feedback will be greeted as friendly comment to improve your service and processes. Even despite this D-experience we are big fans of Georgian cuisine and hope for...
Read moreI knew I would love this restaurant but what I did not know is that I would love it this much . Georgian food is arguably one of the most underrated cuisines, featuring flavors from Greece and the Mediterranean, as well as influences from Turkey and Persia. Cheesy bread boats with drippy yolks, juicy stuffed dumplings, and exquisite wines -the Georgian food experience at Dediko is completely authentic . The ambience is very soothing and welcoming and the space is warm, with plenty of wood finishes and woven ottoman seats. I would say that its not a big restaurant and cant seat a lot of people together but its really good for smaller parties or intimate dates .We picked one of the tables outside to enjoy the last few days of good weather. We had - Tiflis Salad - Wow ! such simple ingredients but packed a punch . It was so good that I instantly had to google the recipe so that I can replicate it at home . Beef and Pork Khinkali -Beautifully twisted knobs of dough, khinkali are typically stuffed with meat and spices, then served boiled or steamed. It had a little bit of a broth in it and is messy to eat but tasted really great. Adjaruli Khachapuri -No visit to a Georgian restaurant would be complete without a khachapuri. The warm, gooey cheese-stuffed bread that oozes and drips with heart-stopping buttery goodness came topped with an egg and tasted as good as it looked . we were looking forward to the Honey Cake but our server informed us that they were out of it . I was kind of relieved because both of us were overfed at this point but couldn't bear to not taste one of their most popular items . We also got a bottle of Saperavi and it was a well-structured dry red wine with ample acidity, mild cherry, black raspberry, and dark fruit flavors .It really complimented our whole meal . The service was good and I already look forward to...
