When you ask yourself “what does my town need that it’s missing?”…a high quality stationery and card store was on my list. I can cross that off my list, now that Eryngium Papeterie has arrived. The owner has curated the most magical store, with a selection of cards made locally, across the bridge, and across the Atlantic. I’ve never seen so many exquisitely letterpresses and gold foil stamped cards lined up next to equally funny and sarcastic humorous ones. Need a wax seal and wax? This store has multiple brands and a plethora of color choices. Need gorgeous wrap or a special bookmark? Need to grab a single sheet of paper and envelope for a quick note? Find those at the counter and plop a spot at the window table to write that letter and stamp it on its way. The owner has thought of everything related to correspondence. It’s a gorgeous ode to the almost lost love for snail mail. There’s even a rabbit on the wall waiting to great you, pen in hand. If you want the best when it comes to cards, correspondence, and community - this is your new favorite spot to shop, along with mine. Oh and don’t forget to peruse the handmade jewelry in the back, a combination of antique pieces and those the owner has created themselves, often from multiple antique pieces perfectly repurposed into something beautiful. What a lucky find...
Read moreEryngium Papeterie is a gem of a stationery shop — beautifully curated, full of thoughtful pieces that feel handpicked rather than stocked. But as good as the selection is, what makes this place stand out is the owner.
She is, quite honestly, one of the kindest and most genuine people you’ll meet in any shop, anywhere. There’s no pretense, no sales pitch — just a quiet generosity and real joy in helping people connect with paper, writing, and creativity. Whether you’re a longtime letter writer or just popping in for a birthday card, she meets you with the same warmth, attention, and care.
She knows her craft inside and out, but wears that knowledge lightly. You never feel talked down to — just supported, encouraged, and maybe even a little inspired. She takes time with her customers, remembers names, and makes everyone feel welcome. It’s clear this isn’t just a business for her — it’s a contribution to the community.
Shops like this don’t happen by accident. They’re built by people who care deeply. Eryngium Papeterie is lucky to have her — and so is the...
Read moreWhen I randomly walked by this shop the other day, I quickly took a second look and was drawn inside. My immediate thought was "How have I never seen this place before?" As a person who is obsessed with paper, journals, pens, and all things writing, this place is small but beautiful. The shop was full of people, I'm guessing all as obsessed as I am. I strolled through, found a couple of items and left with a plan to bring my writer and paper loving friends back to explore the magic I found here. Cards, journals, wax seals, paper, pens, stickers, washi tape, some fun artisan items mixed in, the vibe is so welcoming (shop owner greeted everyone!). Check the hours before you go because they, like many small downtown Vancouver shops, have limited days of operation. But make a...
