I don’t usually write reviews for fast food, but the burger I got at the Wendy’s in Vandalia deserves serious recognition. From the very first bite, I could tell — this wasn’t just put together by some new hire or someone going through the motions. This burger tasted like it was made by a Wendy’s veteran. And not just any veteran — I’m talking about someone who’s been behind that grill for 40 years. Someone who’s seen every menu change, every uniform update, and still shows up with pride in their craft. That burger was made with the kind of precision you can’t teach in a training video. The patty had a perfect sear — just enough crisp on the edges to give it texture, while the inside stayed juicy, flavorful, and warm all the way through. It was like every second on the grill had been timed by instinct, not a timer. The seasoning was subtle but deep, like it had been passed down over decades of lunchtime rushes and dinner shifts. And the way the toppings were arranged — not slapped on, but placed. The bun was warm, soft, and held together from the first bite to the last. Nothing slid around, nothing fell apart. This burger had balance. It felt like the work of someone who doesn’t just make food — they take pride in it. Honestly, it felt like they’d been mastering the Wendy’s burger since 1985 and still gave it everything they had. For a moment, I was taken straight back to 1989. The flavor, the texture, the care — it brought back memories of a time when fast food still had personality. When burgers didn’t just fill you up — they left an impression. And let me also give credit to the woman working the drive-thru. She was incredibly kind, clear, and pleasant — the kind of voice that makes you feel welcome before you even pull up to the window. She double-checked the order, made small talk, and handed everything over with a genuine smile. That level of service just added to the feeling that this wasn’t a throwaway meal — this was made by people who still care about what they do. Whoever made that burger deserves a raise, a handshake, and maybe even a plaque. You don’t stay that consistent and that good for four decades without loving what you do. If you find yourself near Vandalia, stop in — and hope the veteran behind the grill is working. You’ll taste...
Read moreI ordered the BBQ Sandwhich, which I said as the number 10 just the sandwich. He says okay the homestyle...what's your drink? I said no the BBQ Sandwich no pickles please. Yes please on the side is fine. He told me my price I pulled foward confirming that every thing was correct on the screen. I get to the window wait for a few minutes and he hands me my card back then drink then bag. I check my bag because it seems light, for a sandwich chili side and side of onion crisps. The young man is taking another order, so I wait. He looks over noticing that it I still me and just opens the window with attitude. I say 3 things. 1 there is no bacon on my sandwich, also I am missing the extra onions, and may I please have crackers for my chili. The window closes. He comes back with even more attitude no apology for having so many issues with my order, and a fee onion crisps that look like he banged them out of the fry basket. At this point I am just over it. He is looking at me like I'm the problem, when I made myself clear about what I wanted. He had no problem charging me for the upcharge, but when I ask to get what I am paying for its attitude. I paid almost 13 dollars for a drive thru meal...for 1. Why should I get attitude for asking for what I ordered. I have worked fast food, so I understand that they are usually overworked and underpaid...but that is...
Read moreAbsolute worst experience ever. First I waited over 15 minutes in line- with only 4 cars ahead of me. (not at lunch time) I had 2 orders, each with a salad. When I finally go to the window the girl was immediately rude. She told me it was $9.56. I said "for 1 half salad?" She repeated to tell me yes it was $9.56. I said that's not possible, its 1 half salad. She slammed the window closed and came back a minute later to again tell me it was $9.56. I said that's not right and she closed the window again. She then came back and proceeded to tell me that her manager had already made a full salad and wasn't going to make another one. I said I'm not going to pay for a full salad, I ordered a half. She then came back with her manager and I had to explain everything to him again, while she was in the background still being rude. He agreed to take off half of the cost of the salad. I paid for it. They began to close the window, and I said "wait, I had 2 orders" The girl then yelled over her manager and said "you already paid for those! you already got those". I said I absolutely had not. And that the manager is the only one I gave my card to. She said "well the foods gone now" So I had to re-order my other salad and pay for it. The manager was nice to me but did not say anything to her about the way she was speaking to me, almost in a yelling tone. VERY aggressive. I will never go to that Wendy's again. And the girl who was working in Vandalia, Ohio at the window, on 5/9/18 at 2:30pm should not be permitted to be in front of...
