7-11 Ranch Restaurant — Restaurant in Vernal

Not a steakhouse & no beer. Okay, I am not leaving fewer stars rating because I personally blame myself for not doing more research. I saw a picture of a huge prime rib and some rave reviews, and it was one of the three steakhouses listed in town. I have had mixed results at Valley Steakhouse, so I probably won't eat there again, but the nice steakhouse downtown has always delivered consistently good food.

This evening I decided to give 7/11 a shot. The server was very nice, and I had a decent salad and decent cream of mushroom soup and decent chicken wings as a starter. For my entree, I had the ribeye medium rare with mashed potatoes and a little bowl of mixed vegetables on the side.

The steak was pan-fried, and lacked flavor, it was thin, and like the rest of the food, it was kind of a cross between Golden Corral and Cracker Barrel. The restaurant is a locals diner, and if I judge it from that perspective, it earned four or five stars, which I gave. As a steakhouse where a guy with a couple bucks can get an excellent steak and a beer? Absolutely not, it would have earned a 2. I know how important reviews and ratings are though, so I am not going to mess over a restaurant because I misunderstood the type of restaurant and quality that it is.

Another positive thing, even though my steak did not have flavor, it was cooked to the perfect temperature! Yet another positive thing, the fried bread, I think called a scone, was very good, I suggest eating it while it is hot!

My future steak dinners in Vernal will be at Swain's, At least until I get a little bit older and no longer like the food I eat to...

So, we were visiting here in Vernal and wanted to try one of the local restaurants....after reading all of the reviews on different ones this one had a pretty average rating, plus all of them seemed out dated...so I would like to help someone in the same situation we were. I ordered a hamburger...just a plain burger, my husband ordered the prime rib and my son also had a burger. The decor is not so fantastic...and everyone is dressed in animal t shirts...but whatever...shouldnt matter, looks arent everything, the food took forever to get out....the waitress couldnt remember half the time what we had asked for and I watched a family come in, never get helped and actually get up and leave. While waiting for my food i was thinking , "this is going to be delicious, obviously they are killing the cow and cooking it as we speak nothing that takes this long would be gross..." wrong. My burger was one of those small flat kind that you get in a cafeteria. It was disgusting, it tasted just like the ones we would get in school...even my son...wouldnt eat his....and my husband said the prime rib...which was quite pricey and apparently their "special" was not flavorful at all and came with a bowl of horseradish. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant for the atmosphere, the service,...

The food overall was poor, some things were pretty good like the sourdough bread if you were actually given service from the waitress to get some jam or anything else you might need... but she was standing around just fine. It seemed like the regulars were given good service 🙄 and there is specific menu items like their pancake egg sandwich that I can only imagine is what keeps the lights on and the doors open, but $40 for a prepackaged bowl of rice Krispys and a soggy extremely undercooked omelet paired with burnt home fries you can't even chew.... when that is the case I really don't see where it is acceptable for the service to actually be worse than the food. After everything, I had to go up to a different waitress at the drink station for a to go cup for my leftover power aid (because honestly, I felt like I was straight robbed and wanted my drink at least for crying out loud 🙃 😅 I waited after getting the ticket for 15 minutes staring the waitress down, plates stacked on top of food on the other plates all on the table, before I went to the other waitress to ask her for a empty to go cup.) Still, didn't even look my way after I went to get help from the other lady for myself, clearly...
