We called and set up an appointment for 2 dogs, they were very pleasant on the phone, no hassle (other places need shot records especially rabies, these guys don't care) I told them I needed 1 dog shaved but the other dog just needed a bath, teeth brushed and nails clipped. Phone call went great, I was excited. So we went in for the appointment where they tried to sell me dog food because apparently the kind I buy isn't good enough. (They did give me samples of some grain free dog food which was nice) After coming home I realized they didn't ask me anything about shaving the one dog, how much we wanted done or anything so I called back, apparently this place does not approve of shaving dogs, they made that more than clear on our phone call. They act like you are harming your dog by shaving them. To be clear, I didn't want the dog bald where she could be sunburned, just lighten up her coat, help cut done shedding and the dog seems to like it. After being told I would have to go back in and sign a waiver I figured if the groomer butchers it, they aren't held responsible and they'd probably charge an arm and a leg so I just said fine, do what you normally do. Which is a bath, blow dry, brush, teeth and nails. (which I can do at home) When I went to pick up my dogs they smelled great, but the one with the thick coat was still damp. I was told they take care of shedding by brushing and using this high powered dryer, but she wasn't even dry? So how does that work? They were not nearly as kind when I picked up the dogs, remember I am the sinful dog owner that feeds them awful food and shaves my dog. Usually my dogs are prancy after being groomed and they were really unhappy and scared. Then I got the bill, $116! For a bath?! I will not be returning. I had heard great things about this place but our experience was so unpleasant. I guess if you don't mind paying around $60 for a bath & brush and not even a full dry, that is totally up to you but from now on I will stick to buying shampoo that they probably wouldn't approve of and bathing them at home plus you can get a toothbrush and toothpaste from any pet store. All in all, it would cost a lot less and everyone would be a...

We had recently taken our Teacup Yorkiepoo to get groomed. This was our second time bringing him to Give a Dog a Bone. He has always been well behaved for his haircuts, he also baths very easy. We have never received a bad review on his behavior. We left instruction to have him trimmed with a Yorkie Cut. But, we received him back buzzed almost to the skin. He also had cuts all over which we had to treat with antibiotic, and clean daily. He had dozens of smaller cuts all over, and also had a large gash to the bone on his heel that has taken a month to finally close. Hair no longer grows there. He also had large cuts on his neck, chin, under his eye, and on his ear. We payed $40 and left with him before fully realizing the damage. But sent a message as soon as we did notice on the way home. We have not received any message back. For the following weeks he was too scared to be left alone, use the restroom, or even play and enjoy walks like he used to. I would reach down often to pet him and he would yelp and flinch as if I would hit him. This dog has never known violence or been hit within his home. We just had to love him and hold him and wrap his wounds until he healed. We reached out to Give a Dog a Bone, and they have yet to respond or take any responsibility. No apologies received yet. We initially chose this location because we heard they care for the dogs and love them.
Despite the poor haircut, we are really only upset about the injuries, and damage that occurred, and the lack of sympathy that followed. We felt it was best we warn others of what can happen here. I wonder if by chance he was cut initially as an accident, and then was less behaved leading to a difficult grooming. But the fact he still flinches, and nips at my hand when I approach to pet him, makes me wonder if he was hit as well. We hope things get better for all...
Read moreI was leaving on a trip and needed my dog groomed before we left. When I made the appointment I made sure that the grooming would not take more than two hours. I get on the morning of the appointment I called and again confirmed the grooming would be done within two hours.
I arrived 10 minutes early to pick my dog up. I found him wet and shivering in a kennel that was too small for him to stand in and shake himself off. It took the staff over five minutes before they even acknowledged I was in the building. He was shivering and coughing. The woman that finally came to help me said my groomer had errands to run but they would call me and my dog was ready. I told her that was not acceptable and we would be leaving. She went over to the kennel and put a choke collar on him and before I knew what was happening, she had to choke collar around his neck and was dragging him back to be dried not even allowing his front legs to touch the ground as he tried to get to me. I was in shock and didnât say anything. They returned a few minutes later and I removed this choke collar and walked out not leaving a tip. My dogs whole body continue to shake for the entire day and upon closer inspection that evening I found multiple spots where hair was burnt and melted and even parts of his body that had been burnt. Needless to say my dog will not ever be back. If you have taken your dog here and they come back with a hair cut shorter than you expected itâs probably to cover up the fact they also burnt...
