The Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum, located in Vernal, Utah, is a fascinating destination for those interested in natural history, particularly paleontology. The museum is renowned for its extensive fossil collections and exhibits that showcase the prehistoric life that once inhabited the region, including dinosaurs and other ancient creatures.
One of the highlights of the museum is its impressive dinosaur exhibits, featuring life-sized replicas and actual fossils that provide insight into the age of dinosaurs. The museum also includes displays on geology, ecology, and the cultural history of the area, offering a comprehensive view of the natural history of Utah.
In addition to its exhibits, the museum hosts educational programs, workshops, and events designed to engage visitors and promote learning about the natural world. Read moreThis place is really fun if you're passing through or live nearby. We have been to several different dinosaur/natural museums, and this one would probably be lower on the list. There are a lot of really cool things here, but previous reviews we had read made it sound more fun than it really was. They do have a fun activity book you can complete. You can purchase the field workbook (around $6) when you enter. The purpose of this book is to have you interact more with the exhibits and help your kids learn rather than just completing a quick walkthrough. Once this is completed, you get a dinosaur patch. We call the head because the website said to for more information about additional activities. The lady we talked to said "most people don't know this but if you ask you can get a back room tour." Unfortunately we were not able to do that because the lady that was going to give us the tour had to leave early. She was really respectful and called us to let us know that she wasn't going to be able to do it prior to...
Read moreThis museum used to be so cool. They had exhibits no other museum, anywhere in the world, could offer. They had a rock exhibit with minerals I've never seen anywhere else. They had fossils that were amazing: fossilized tortoise shells, sea creatures that were unreal.... They had taxidermized animals that were truly amazing. The gardens were mature, beautiful, and fun to walk through. My kids and grandkids loved it and we made the trip to Vernal every year just for the dinosaur museum. But now, the city or county or whatever it was has ruined it. They tore down the old mature gardens, tore down the museum, and built a new museum with new" "gardens." They took out all the one-of-a-kind really cool and very educational exhibits and turned the museum into the exact same thing you can see anywhere. Don't waste your time or your money on this one. Vernal has gone downhill a lot. They're just trying to be another Wasatch Front, or worse, another California. Avoid this one and save your money for...
