Dined in last week, ordered the waygu sirloin and so did at least 7 out 15 other people in our party. When ordered, we were informed they ran out of waygu sirloin and that it would be waygu NY strip instead. While waiting for dinner I received creamy mushroom soup, it was extremely undersalted and fairly bland. The bread for the table was good, but not great. Dinner arrives, and what we get is a steak that has almost no crust/color, the fat is not rendered and is hard and chewy, and it literally tasted like it had been cook in Canola oil with ZERO seasoning. Absolutely no salt, no pepper, chewy, and 100% not waygu and not even prime. It was so bad that multiple people in our party didn't want to finish it. I just don't understand why a restaurant like this thinks this meal was acceptable, I've eaten alot of good steaks and this genuinely was the worst I've ever had. They didn't season any of the food that came out and when I say the steak had no seasoning, I mean it! Nothing! It tasted like irony Canola oil, exact flavor. I wish them luck but they seriously need to take a look at their chef, they lost 15 new customers that night directly due to the food. The service wasn't horrible but the some waiters were unprofessional and improper. Atmosphere was nothing special, good location... Horrible steak,...
Read moreThis is the second time we have been to this restaurant. The first time, we enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. This time we brought friends with us and it took a long time to get our appetizer and our meals. When the food came out, they were missing my fiancé’s dish. I just happen to notice the table next to us speaking to the server about the meal they had received just before us and how it was wrong. The guy did say he had taken two bites and they removed the plate and brought his meal to him. Our server then came over very nervously and informed us that my fiancé’s food would be out momentarily. I happen to notice that the meal the gentleman at the other table had was my fiancé’s meal. I am pretty sure the meal was re-plated based on the time it took to bring it to my fiancé. It looked like it had fresh sauce and cheese, but it came out looking quite different from the one our friend ordered. I did not want to say anything and caused a big scene and embarrass my fiancé in front of our friends. Overall, it was just a disappointing night. The roasted pepper tomato soup was good other than the pepper seeds I had to spit out and the fried green tomatoes are...
Read moreWe decided on trying the Oar based on many good reviews. Our expectations were high only to be disappointed. Ambiance : decorated storefront in a narrow in inviting room. Drinks: limited wine and beer selection Food: most important topic which was ok at best. We ordered the grilled octopus and sent it back absolutely terrible and loaded with salt which we sent back as we couldn’t eat it. We also had the chibatta bread and some type of flavored butter which also was way too salty. We ordered the grilled salad which was ok and a speciality salad with mixed greens strawberries walnuts and some type of Chardonnay vinagarette dressing. No hint of vinagarette or Chardonnay only oil. Our main course was pork chop over sweet potatoe purée. It tasted ok but then again it’s a pork chop not hard to mess up. The other entree was Parmesan crusted chicken in a cream sauce and that also was ok. We opted for no deserts . Overall way overpriced with a limited menu. The pork chop is their signature dish per our server which should indicate the fine dining aspect is all but gone....
