My husband and I come in here semi-regularly, it's one of few breakfast places in the area. It's crazy loud on the weekends, which is understandable, so we've taken to coming in on weekdays for a calmer and quieter dining experience - until today. We came in Monday a little before noon. There were maybe a dozen other poor souls in the place, and it was the loudest I've ever heard it in there because of the front of house staff, who were literally shouting to one another across the restaurant and scream-singing along to the radio at the top of their lungs. I've worked in hospitality for 20 years and have a big soft spot for restaurant servers. We are human, we like to have fun with one another, and I genuinely enjoy seeing people have fun at their jobs, enjoying bantering with their coworkers, and just generally being in good spirits. It can be a difficult, demanding, and thankless job, and it's nice to see people being happy. However, it is still a workplace, and, last I checked, not an (extremely amateur) theater. I have never experienced such a lack of professionalism and disregard for the dining experience of the customers, anywhere. Multiple times, I had to ask my husband to repeat himself so I could hear him over the shrill, shrieking pitch of the staff member who seemed to think we all wanted to be graced with her inferior renditions of every single song that came on the radio. She apparently took my non-verbal cues of plugging my ears, grimacing, and glancing furtively around the restaurant to determine the source of this distressed wailing as approval, as she arrived at our table proudly proclaiming "on Mondays, we play the good music!" While still wildly unprofessional, I even preferred the outdoor-voiced, curse-word laden inappropriate conversations I can't even say we overheard, as they were spoken so loudly, you'd have to make an effort not to hear them. Which I did actually did, by going to the car to retrieve my noise-cancelling headphones, for fear that my frustration at the inescapable shriek-singing we were being subjected to was about to result in a Simon Cowell-esque reality check for our clueless crooner. At least the headphones made it so that I could hear what my husband was saying by muffling these banshee cries. I was so eager to escape this aural torture chamber, the likes of which I'd imagined were only reserved for prisoners of war, that I did not finish my meal, and I now feel truly blessed to be in the comfort of my own home, having only to hear children screaming and the neighbor's leaf-blower instead of the insufferable racket forced upon us by the Gus' Diner "performers." We will not be attending...
Read moreWow. What a let down. I’ve wanted to go here for a few years and finally decided to after a co-worker said it was “so good”. I ordered Country friend chicken with hash browns (and cheese on it), over easy eggs and toast. My partner ordered Crepes. The “boy” we had as a waiter was really a boy. I’m pretty sure he was going through puberty, which would be ok, if he actually knew anything and could handle the job. He really needed to brush up on his menu skills and maybe what size box we needed instead of asking first timers what WE NEEDED. All I can say about this place is Canned, microwave, can and more microwave. My country fried chicken tasted literally like a can. I’ve never had bad country fried chicken. I really wasn’t sure what mystery meat I was eating. And the gravy was the thinnest looking gravy I have ever had. It had like these little round things in it that I’ll assume wasn’t hot dogs, but very well tasted like it. Seriously I’ve never had bad country fried Chicken! And the gravy is always a thick southern delight. My dining partner said “can”. I said. “Really bad can” 🤦🏼♀️. My hash browns didn’t have cheese on it and I sent it back. They tasted ok. Eggs were ok. How can you mess an egg though??! I was so dissatisfied with my chicken and the horrid can taste, I kind of didn’t care to eat at that point. My friend had crepes and after trying to figure out what she could get inside of them, she opted for strawberries and bananas. I saw her going crazy with the powder sugar jar after they were delivered and quietly asked how it was. She said Oh so Bland!!!We were both disappointed in our meal esp after our co worker said how great it was. We then spotted some good looking pie, which we should of ate for our meal, but we quickly declined, wanting to go home. Man I just forgot about our cheese curds. They were the best thing we had!!A little thick and chewy, but eatable. This place really is not worth the time. To be fair, we have only ate at GUS once, but I doubt I...

The waitress was very good but the group had mixed reviews on the food. My wife enjoying her Turkey dinner. I was very disappointed with my Claim Chowder but it wasn't bad enough to send back. But if you are like me and enjoy a thick creamy Claim Chowder this will probably disappoint you as much as it did me.
They have very nice specials for Seniors. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are more than enough for most people I believe.
My fish special came with a very substantial quantity of tasty hash browns, a bowl of the previously mentioned Claim Chowder along with two pieces of fish. It wasn't bad but most of us found our meals to be pretty bland, lacking greatly in seasoning. Now for a lot of people food that is bland is required or desirable, but not so for most of us.
They do have a lot of nice menu options here, several I haven't tried yet.
I love the fact that when they are open you can order breakfast anytime. I've previously had a very good breakfast here. If I go back again I'd most likely order off the breakfast menu.
They do have a salid bar available. It looks nice but has few choices.
I probably wouldn't recommend this place for groups. I would recommend their breakfast menu. They have some daily specials I haven't tried yet.
Prices are very fair especially the specials and...
