Undoubtedly, Monk's delivers on delicious food and has a very robust menu. We had a young waitress who was very upbeat and pleasant when taking our order.
The person at the entrance counter could use a few lessons in hospitality. They weren't rude, but their demeanor represented a sense of disconnect, which is something you don't want your patrons to pick up on. It's not a deal breaker, but just a note to address for future customers.
I chose 3 stars over a higher rating because of a few notables. My partner ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with mayo on the side, and I had a bacon cheeseburger. I had a basic lemonade with my burger, and they had water. The waitress did check on us to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Great job.
The disappointment came when we reviewed our bill and noticed that a side of mayo was a dollar! One dollar for a SMALL cup of mayo??? C'mon, really? My lemonade was like 3.19! We both thought that those prices were unreasonably excessive to the point of absurdity. I get it that everything has a cost, but mayo is a basic condiment, and if a charge had to be made, why not .25 cents or .50 cents at most? When I asked about that particular charge to the waitress, she just agreed with the price and missed the opportunity to clarify the justification for the price, or better yet maybe just take it off when you consider that no lettuce or tomato was included as per the order thus saving you money so it could have been balanced out.
The food is a bit pricey, and there stands a limited reasonable rationale for that. But that one thing rubbed us the wrong way. We paid the bill and still left a generous tip. Will we return? That's unclear because I wouldn't want to have a meal there if I feel that despite the food, I will have to deal with being "nickle and dimed" on any other various nuances that might potentially exist...
If the restaurant reaches out to help us better understand their position, maybe that uncertainty to return will change, but I have to say that making any recommendations for this place is currently not on my radar.

Read moreWe recently had dinner at Monk’s Bar & Grill in Plover and overall had a great experience. It’s conveniently located just off I‑39, making it an easy stop whether you're local or passing through.
🍔 Food & Drinks I went with a classic cheeseburger, and it really hit the spot—juicy, cooked just right, and full of flavor. It came with a side of kettle chips, which were crispy and paired nicely with the meal. My wife had the chicken wrap, which was fresh and satisfying, with a good balance of ingredients and a flavorful sauce. The portions were generous, and everything was served hot and timely.
The menu offers a wide variety—from burgers and wraps to cheese curds and loaded appetizers. There’s also a solid selection of beers and cocktails for those looking to relax.
🏠 Atmosphere & Service The atmosphere is laid-back with a casual sports-bar feel, but still very family-friendly. TVs are present but not too loud, and the space felt clean and comfortable. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed.
👍 Highlights
Flavorful cheeseburgers and fresh wraps Crispy kettle chips instead of standard fries Generous portions and quick service Clean, comfortable setting
👎 Minor Downsides
Slightly higher prices compared to other bar & grill spots Small extra charges for things like sauces
Final Thoughts: Monk’s in Plover is a solid choice if you’re looking for a tasty, casual meal with good service. The cheeseburger and chicken wrap both delivered, and the overall experience made it well worth the stop. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re...
Read moreI've been wanting to go here for a long time, and finally had a chance. Monk's is basically a burger & brew pub, a small, but decent assortment of beers on tap, and a menu filled almost entirely with burgers and sandwiches, and not must else. So if you don't like beer & burgers, this is not going to be your kind of place.
The restaurant itself is big and spacious, and I really liked the atmosphere. In the main dining room, there were TV's everywhere, with some sort of sporting event on every screen. Thankfully, there was NO SOUND from any of the TV's, so the room itself was actually on the quiet side! Very nice. It's a really comfortable place, and a wonderful spot to bring friends.
As for the menu, it's basically appetizers, burgers, wraps, and a few sandwiches. Very basic menu, but good selections. I had the nachos appetizer (which must be shared!), and the "El Cubano" sandwich with a side of their wonderful home-made potato chips. They serve huge portions, and you will not walk away hungry from this place! The nachos were good, but not great, though they give you a small mountain of chips; the El Cubano was wonderful, and the home-made potato chips were extremely addicting.
The service was the best I've had in Wisconsin, our server was extremely friendly, very knowledgeable, and a joy to have. Thanks Ben!
But best of all, the prices are very reasonable. You get a lot of food, great service, and a nice place to sit and enjoy your food. It's no wonder this place is so popular, they do all the basics...
