The appetizers were amazing, the sorullitos were definitely the best. But unfortunately they treated my mother terribly on MOTHERS DAY. We kindly returned some food we did not like and were still going to pay but when our server (very kind) returned the food to the kitchen the door was left open and we heard the owner yell “see I told you they only wanted free food”. If you have ever gone to this restaurant you would know how small it is so imagine how Incredibly embarrassing it is for EVERYONE to hear it. When my mom went up to address the situation she was quickly rude and a liar. The table behind us was shocked at the fact we were getting treated so badly. Not once did we mention we were not going to pay or that we were unsatisfied with the service until we were being yelled at. Then the owner continued to yell that we didn’t have to pay for anything but to never return to her establishment. If you look at the previous reviews you would see she threatens everyone with cameras but I would love for her to post the video of her yelling and calling us liars. We still paid because at no point we’re we going to accept free food from an establishment who would throw it in our faces. Overall I believe if the restaurant had a better management it would’ve been better. Not to mention there were no restrooms or heater so we were freezing. I hope god can bless this restaurant and the management to bring clarity into what a...

My first visit to El Borincano Restaurant in Thalia, Virginia Beach was on October 27, 2020. It was a Tuesday (work day). I ordered a lunch to go. I chose Pernil, rice with gandules, salad (lettuce and tomato) and fried yellow plantains, and a Coco Rico for drink. The food was delicious. Even for being a take-out, the dish had a very nice presentation and appeal.
The cleanliness of the premises was exemplary and appreciated. The tables and the counter had a good appearance, and the interior decoration was cute and cozy. I practically didn't have to wait. I found the cost a bit high but reasonable considering the quantity and quality of the food. The service was fast. I was attended by its Owner, Mrs. Magda, who turned out to be very kind, attentive and helpful. Her husband is the Chef of the restaurant, but I did not get to know him. As Magda informed me, he used to cook for La Yaroa restaurant.
El Borincano, which at the time had only been opened for 1-1/2 months, has a large menu of exclusively Puerto Rican dishes. Based on the experience I had on that occasion, I have no doubt that they will be successful and may consider me one of their regular clientele. Without further ado, I wish El Borincano a good and stable future. So ... sponsor them!
Read moreThe food here deserves 10 stars! Thank you to fellow Yelp reviewers who led me to suggest my friends to go to El Borincano for dinner. While the restaurant only seats 12 people, the ambiance and aroma is so welcoming. I ordered the bBistec Encebollado - beef sautéed with onions with 2 sides that you can choose from: salad, white rice, yellow rice, tostones or sweet plantains. I got salad and yellow rice. The salad was so fresh served with no dressing however it goes well with the house sauce (akin to thousand island with mayo..?). Yellow rice is moist. My friends ordered Fried Pork Chop and conch salad. These were served in delicious well seasoned portions. Highly recommend this restaurant, easily my best Latin American restaurant. You will NOT be...
