I want to first start off by saying this review is not about my server or the food. Food is decent but I always get a salad so not much can go wrong there. My disappointment is in the management of the restaurant this night. Apparently this night there were some big parties at the restaurant and longer than usual wait. I was only a party of 2 this evening. When I arrived there was two females ahead of me checking in. Two young girls were working the front. I was waiting for my turn to get taken down for party of 2 when I overheard the worker tell the females ahead of me it would be about a 40 min wait since there were large parties tonight. I immediately thought that maybe the girls in front of me were part of a large party. At that moment the other youg girl working the front asked acknowledged me and I told her just a party of 2. She said ok that it would be a few minutes. I assumed (wrong to assume but ok) that it would only be a few minutes to be seated so I sat down. Another person was being checked in which was a large party. The one young worker who had the tablet asked me if I was helped and I told her yes that the other girl had helped me (she was on the phone at that time). She then asked for my name and I told her the other girl hadn't asked for my name but it was a party of 2 and was told by the girl that it only be a few minutes. Even the girl sitting next to me said "I don't think they know what they are doing". The worker proceeded to tell me that there is a 40 min wait and that I had to put my name down. I told her that's not what I was told. Then the female who told me got off the phone and told me that she told me that it would be a few minutes before the other female could take my name and tell me the wait time. I told her "that's not what you said". I had no problem with waiting but that's not what she said to me. That's when the manager (Missey) showed up and immediately yelled at me for yelling at her staff. I told her I was not yelling at her staff that I was expressing the misinformation I was being given by her staff and that I had no issue waiting for a table but that's not what I was told by the female when I checked it. Missey proceeded to scold me for yelling at her 16 year old staff. I told Missey " how am I supposed to know she's 16 it's not like she has a name tag saying she's 16". Missey then said I would be seated now and told the young girl with tablet to seat me and the young girl said back to the manager saying but there's a 40 min wait. I even said at this point I had no issue waiting but manager said she'd seat me now. After a being seated I felt bad about causing a fuss and my partner mentioned I should apologize i mean he even called me a "Karen " well that's not me so I agreed that I needed to apologize. On the way out the female with the tablet was there. I started to apologize to her and expressed my sincerest apology and then Missey showed up as I was apologizing. I told the young girl to please tell the other female that I apologize to her too. The young female barely looked at me and she even gave me a dirty look. Missey overhead as I was apologizing didn't even acknowledged it. As we were leaving my partner who wasn't there during the initial confrontational said that the young female didn't even acknowledge your apology disnt even look at me and that the manager immediately came to the front when she saw me talking to the young girl. He even said she was giving me a dirty look. I admit I could have handled it differently at first and I tried to apologize for the way I handled it. I called after I left to get the name of owner or head manager so that I could further apologize but Missey got the call and she told me she was the head manager and no one above her. I tried to explain to her the situation and she wouldn't even hear me out and hung up on me. Again this review has nothing to do with our server or food. Just too bad it turned out the way it did cause I was there to celebrate a friend's promotion and after a bad few days of bad...
Read moreWe have been enthusiastic Maggie's patrons for several years. The food and service have always been spot-on - until today. One person in our party ordered the chicken wings, and they had been cooked so long that what little meat there had been was dessicated and inedible. I had ordered my salad without cheese and sadly, the cheese chunks were there. The 3rd person ordered a Reuben which was very good. One in our party ordered a 23 oz IPA beer and was brought a 12 oz, and was told that because it was an IPA, 12 oz was the largest size they could pour. (It was not a high alcohol beer.) Something must have changed or there was some misunderstanding because that limitation has never existed before. We told the waitress about the wings, and she was kind enough to pursue a discount for them, although we did not request that and only shared our wings issue for feedback purposes. This experience won't change plans for future visits to Maggie's because all restaurants have rough days, but again, for feedback purposes, this was one of their rough days. 4 months later - We have visited Maggie's a few time since this review and things were pretty much great. Until today, when we arrived on a Sunday at 12PM. It was busier than it has been on previous Sundays. We ordered drinks and didn't receive them for 25 minutes. The waiter came back twice to clarify and tell us that various of our orders weren't available, and twice came back to ask us to just order our food and he would get the drinks out ASAP - that the bar was very busy. We finally got our drinks just before the food came out 10 minutes later. It appeared that there was only one bartender working and perhaps sharing food service responsibilities. The food was good. We love the menu (especially gluten free options) and the ambience of Maggie's, but service is very uneven. We have experienced long waits for food previously. We still recommend Maggie's, but be forewarned of potential food/service issues. We received a very kind and concerned response from our earlier post, and know they are trying. Update May 6 2023 - we made another of our trips to Maggie's for lunch today. It was terrific! The 2 guys had a garbage burger and bacon cheeseburger and I had the farm greens salad with balsamic. The burgers were perfect and the salad was beautiful and so fresh! Service was a tad slow, but it was getting busy, so no problem. Maggie's is high on our list for go-to eating - and SO grateful for the gluten-free options!! Final update May 3, 2025 - Sadly, we are done with Maggie's. Went today, a Saturday, for lunch. Arrived at 11:45. There were about 8 other patrons. We waited at least 10 minutes for a waiter, and finally ordered drinks. The waiter came back twice - once to say they were out of Miller Lite and once to say they were out of Jack Daniels! Really?!!? When the drinks finally arrived 20 minutes later, the bartender brought a shot of bourbon to the person who ordered bourbon and coke. When the omission was pointed out, he brought a small glass of coke and the person had to mix it himself. Food was ordered - which came out pretty quickly and was very good - and 2 more drinks were ordered. They arrived 15 minutes later. There were at least 4 waiters working and one bartender to deal with a small number of people. There is no excuse why service should take this long for so few patrons. We have given Maggie's lots of chances, but no more. This attractive, perfect-location restaurant needs way better management. We will be...
Read moreOur visit to this restaurant was very disappointing. It was my husband's birthday last night. I thought it would be great to take him to see Black Panther(he's been anticipating this movie for over a year) and enjoy dinner out. My coworker raved about this place. I looked at the reviews then the pics, and decided to try it. Worst Idea Ever. We arrived after the movie about 1145p. We're late night eaters so this is usual for us. Not one staff moved from their position to greet us. We waited at the front desk for 6 mins in an close-to-empty restaurant. Most patrons were seated at the bar. It wasn't until I called the restaurant when a male server from the bar ran to answer the phone sitting 2 feet from where we stood. A woman server came over and never greeted us. She said "come with me" and we followed. We passed 4 tables until she found what she thought was a clean one. We sit down: nice sturdy tables, comfortable seating, loved the foot rest (I'm 5'11 and husband is 6'3 so it's a big plus). The table was not cleaned like she thought. Another server came to wipe it down. The horrid smell from the cloth lingered on for minutes. When our server came, she was pleasant. We ordered a sweet tea for him and unsweetened tea for me. Lets just say we both got unsweetened. After bringing him the same unsweetened tea two more times, he just ordered lemonade. Understandably, the late night menu isn't extensive and offers smaller plates so we ordered 4 apps each. Food came 15 mins later. Disgusting, dry, and no significant difference in taste between each plate. The only food tolerable was the fried mac n cheese balls and Caesar salad, and my husband ordered those along with the deviled eggs and chicken wings. I ordered the steak skewers, pork and chicken street tacos, brussel sprouts, and clam chowder. The chowder was clam-flavored cream. Not a clam nor potato in sight. I threw crackers in the bowl for some texture. The skewers were super dry, tough, room temp, and lacked flavor. Definately not recently prepared. It was on a bed of wilted lettuce. The ROASTED Brussels sprouts with bacon was more burnt than roasted. The charred garlic in the dish left a seriously bad aftertaste. The server asked if we wanted a box for any of the food and I refused. She said "you don't want to take any of it," I shook my head. My husband filled out a comment card at the table and is hopeful that it will make a difference. I can almost guarantee that it won't see the light of day. We paid, thanked the server, and went to McDonald's about...
