I’ve been eating at Pho79 on Va. Beach Blvd for 20 years because their food has always been good. Atmosphere is just okay but that is not important here in this review. ā€œThe serviceā€ last night was rude and awful. My friend and I walked in at 7:29pm, hours on door says open to 8pm. The closing manager came over and knows I’m a regular and said ā€œDo you know we close at 8pm?ā€ He was clearly agitated that we were there. I said yes, I’m aware and that is why we came at 7:30pm. We ordered without looking at the menu immediately. He never asked how we were, no smile just plainly agitated that we came. There were 6 other occupied tables when we arrived. At 7:55pm all tables had left except for us and one other table of 2. We were only half finished with our small bowls of soup. We were rushing the whole time, their soup is always hot and even though the soup tasted amazing we wanted to leave from there, due to feeling like the manager did not want us. So, at 7:55pm paid $31 for 2 small bowls of soup and asked for soup containers to take home the leftovers. I wrapped the sprouts and basil in napkins, no box was given for that and we left. So here is My Suggestion, Pho lock your doors at 7pm or 7:30pm, so No new customers can enter. This way the closing manager and staff can leave by 8pm. Keep the inside door handle unlocked so inside guests can leave. If you keep offending your regulars or any customers they will stop coming. One more incident, the busser who was cleaning tables bumped the heavy cart on wheels so hard into my booth seat, that my whole seat moved out of place with me in it. Never said sorry, never asked if I was okay? I’m a former server and both behaviors are offensive and unacceptable. Obviously customers at this location are not valued. Just Lock your doors at 7p or 7:30p to keep your customers from coming into eat, so you can go home exactly at 8pm. We sat in the car and watched the last table leave at 8p and the closing manager walked out a few minutes after that.

1/6/24 - My husband said he used to come here for lunch at work all the time so we decided to stop by to eat lunch. We were seated and then asked what we would like. They had to come back because we didn't really have a chance to look over the menu. They didn't come back for another 15 minutes so I felt we were a bit forgotten. I ordered the chicken pho which is one of the favorites on the menu. But I have to agree with it being my favorite, it was really good. It tasted like chicken noodle soup but a pho take on it. It came out pretty quick after ordering. All the utensils are on the tables already. The soup spoons do not look clean. I used my nail and noticed residue came off. All the spoons were like that. After we ordered our food, no one ever came to check in on us. Since no one ever came to check on us, I wasn't able to ask for a plastic spoon. When you are done you pay at the counter. They have some nice merch you can buy as well. The food was really good and even with the service not being the best I would still recommend to stop by and get some food

On a cold and windy day went in and ordered two bowls of soup. the small one and a large one for myself and a friend. The amount of soup was extremely plentiful. We both had leftovers. Also, their fried egg rolls pork were the best I'd ever had. The reason I gave a four on service is because they do not speak any English, and if you don't repeat the number pertinent to the dish, you might have some language barrier in placing your order. This place is a little Hideaway but it is very good and very plentiful. I will be going again.

The place was not very welcoming. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted, but the son of whomever worked there (must've been in his 20s but clearly had a mental disability so I don't fault him in particular) started yelling out loud and touching my missing arm as I was trying to order. Not a single worker intervened or apologized or anything. I then decided to just brush it off as it is definitely the people around him that have failed him.

Now on to the ordering process. I originally asked for 2 small #4 bowls with spring rolls. The man up front told me that they did not have any smalls (I looked at pictures of the menu, and it had them there, but I was not gonna press the issue), I reluctantly asked for larges instead until I found out it was going to be $50.

Mind you, I am an optimist, so I am still fine with the strangness, and I opt to just get 1 large.

Now, the weirdest thing happened while I was sitting down. First, though, I wanna say I am not making any accusations or assumptions, just mearly going to write down what I saw. An older caucasian gentleman walked in with a young vietnamese girl. He then started yelling for the older lady in the back, asking where she was. A different man walked out from the back and told him to shush while waving him over. They then spoke quietly amongst themselves while seemingly aware I was watching, and then the old lady came out as well. The caucasian man saw her and said, "Here you go! She is all yours now!" and walked out.

I will reiterate that I am not making any assumptions and only typing what I witnessed.

Finally, the food. The broth was a lot more "gingery" than I am used to with pho, and the beansprouts had a funky smell. The only saving grace was the fresh spring rolls, which is why I gave them 2 stars for food but 1 star for everything else.

Safe to say, I will never be coming back. It even prompted me to write a review, which I...

Should have known something was wrong when I seen the family that cooks the food bring there dog in but I ignored it, we sat down expecting a nice and new experience and a new experience did we get. The man taking our order handed us the menu and immediately asked what we wanted and as we were getting ready to say we’re still looking he storms off as if we don’t belong there, for my finances sake I ignored it, I’d say no less then 40 seconds later he comes back seeming even more annoyed then the first time asking what we wanted to drink so we told him and he brought us a glass of ice and a Pepsi can which was unusual but again I ignored his attitude and continued to check my cup for dog hair as I opened the can. Finally ordered and the food did come out relatively fast I’ll say that but then I tried to meat from my soup and my stomach immediately turned and I felt nauseous I asked my fiance how her food was and needless to say she wasn’t necessarily enjoying it either, it was the taste the meat was like chewing on a cow tongue and the taste was something like sink water and a Vietnamese seasoning it was absolutely the worst thing I’ve ever tried I was more then willing to pay 45$ for two ppl and get the h3ll out of there, ps we went to McDonald’s and was refreshed if that tells...
