Chuck E. Cheese — Restaurant in Virginia

We had our son’s birthday party here a year ago and it was wonderful. When we arrived everything was set up and the entire evening went wonderfully. I’ve raved about it for the past year. Would give 5 stars until today. This year, he wanted a repeat party and we were looking forward to having a good time. We drove an hour and a half from our home and arrived five minutes after our party was supposed to begin. The only thing that was set up was a table cloth and four paper plates and cups. None of the balloons, name sign, gift bags, or play cards were there. We couldn’t even tell which table we were supposed to be at. No one greeted us. My six year old began to cry and thought Chuck E Cheese had cancelled his birthday party. Fifteen minutes after the party was scheduled to begin, Braeden arrived (he had been called in on his day off evidently). If not for Braeden taking charge I would have walked out. Braeden sprang into action, got everything quickly organized and ensured that my son had a great time. He was very attentive and caring. Braeden deserves six stars. Not once did a manager speak to us or apologize for the lack of preparedness even though we made it clear we were very unhappy.

A few other parties were there as well and all of us were scrunched up in one corner rather than spread out over the large party area which would have made it more enjoyable for everyone. While we were playing games, strangers from other parties ended up sitting at our table and older kids stole some of our balloons to suck the helium.

The pizza was definitely not as good as last year but not bad and the cake was enjoyable. The facility was clean. A few games didn’t work or read the play pass but the majority worked fine.

Overall, my son ended up having a good time and I attribute that all to Braeden. I’m guessing my son will want to come back next year but unless Braeden is there and in charge of our party, will find another...

Was there last night for a party and literally watched a 17 yr old do 2 party's by her self. I asked where was the help and she said everyone had called out or left early. Angel (the 17 yr old party planner) had been there since 9am. It was now 9pm and they closed at 10pm. Around 9:10pm her last party of the day showed up 😳 late and she still allowed them the allotted time for the party. There should be a rule in place for late guest because showing up 1hr and 10 mins late for your party or 40mins before close is crazy.

The job only pays 13.00 a hr to plan,host,serve and control a party/parties for 2hrs at a time. Not one staff member came to check on her or ask if she needed assistance. There's no gratuity or a tip offer for the service the party host provides which needs to change. Angel did 7 parties that's day and only recieved a 10 dollar tip. Angel if you see this, thank you for an amazing time and keeping your composure during our party time. I highly recommend you to turn in your 2weeks and seek employment else where. You're 17 yrs old and companies will use your innocence to not do their job. To host 7 parties on a weekend by yourself (sometimes 2 at a time) is wild.

This is an edited review.(originally 5 star rating) lowered due to recent visits. I took my girls to this location because its always been the best maintained and clean in Richmond. Lately its been on a downhill. From the beginning of summer I've been a total of 3 times. First trip, we tried the buffet and honestly it was horrible. Cici is just down the street and they charge less for a full pizza buffet. Second, the entire area by the bathrooms smelled of urine. It lingered throughout. 3rd trip, today i take my girls and insert 17$ in the machine for 2 cards. It only gave us one. Found manager and he retrieved the second card...on to the games. At least 1/4 of the games inside this location either were "out of service" or oddly just wouldnt accept our card swipe. We lost a lot of our play pass time due to the errors and flaws. Ive added pics and video for proof. I will be contacting the corporation with this situation. I honestly feel as though i tossed 17$ in the trash. Kids barely got 200 tickets. Which on average they get get 400 to 500 on a similar visit. Very dissatisfied with our visits! I must add that the manager seemed annoyed at my need...
