Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Walker

Let me start by saying I love this restaurant and my comments to follow don't reflect all Steak n Shakes. So I only strongly recommend never eating here at this one. We all have had situations where we looked at people and made presumptions about each other. However in this case it proves to be spot on. The staff in this location are extremely rude, unprofessional, illiterate, and lack any moral compass. Trying to make a order through the drive through was a nightmare and felt like I was teaching phonics to a kindergartener.

The drive thru staff had me repeat my order on a quite day five times. After repeating it multiple times they still messed up a simple order off two meals with no special request. They further charged me for a sandwich and fries I didn't order which was an extra $10 under this current administrations inflation issue. There lack of education was so bad I didn't ask for a refund in fear they couldn't conduct a transaction that would require that much thought. The worse example of unprofessionalism and illiteracy was the girl at the drive thru who I will only identify as a black female with a tattoo on the back right side of her neck. You can't miss her because the only word she ever learned to speak was "yup". In addition, her personal hygiene was lacking severely and she needed a brush, comb, or some bristled device to tame her nasty hair. She couldn't pronounce basic words correctly, lacked respect, couldn't properly count or conduct complex task, and was plain nasty.

She got her hair in our shakesb after leaving over them while taking a break. The wrappers to the sandwiches were not even placed correctly on the sandwiches which led to spills in the bag. We threw the food out as it was all wrong and likely not ours to begin with. Even the customers in front of us were arguring with her.

I spent my time in the driveway writing this review as a warning to anyone who goes there. Bottom line up front if you are okay with "ghetto" service this is is your place. So be ready to receive lazy service, wrong orders, attitudes and more. If you want a better experience seek elsewhere as this location is likely only hiring criminals, lazy people, people with poor hygiene training, or just plain ignorant. Again this is no reflection in my opinion on Steak n Shake was a company because I've seen better. The issue here is the management team at this location. They are horrible for allowing this garbage of customer service. Enough of my gibberish don't take my word for it just go there and see for yourself. I promise you they won't let you down when it comes to horrible...

The food was great but our server was terrible. I was very excited to try this restaurants food and after we sat down we waited 30 minutes for our drinks just our drinks the people who came in after us had already gotten their food and drinks. Mean while another waiter came over and gave us some water while we waited. Because our waiter really wasn't doing his job. For a tall gentlemen you would expect everything to be fine but only with our table did he lower his voice so you could barely hear him and then after we ordered our food he completely ignored us. 30 minutes after ordering we got just our shakes which mine was mostly melted and my cool whip on top had gone flat. I mean most restaurants you get your drinks within 5 minutes everyone around us did but we didn't even the people who sat down after us already had their drinks and things but our waiter did not care about serving us he spent more time visiting other guests that were not on his table chart because not once did I see him being anything to those table. And then 45 to 55 minutes later we finally got our food oh I also need to mention our meals. It took almost and hour for us to get our food and there were only 2 of us. We orders the 4 for 4 option for me which was a small plate of onion rings a warmed up cook a burger and some drys and my significant other order two burgers and some coleslaw we both also had milkshakes. But we had those 30 minutes after being there. Our waiter was overall rude to us and every other waiter seemed to be fine and smiled and were happy but our waiter simply mumbled and threw our total on the table and ran off. The only positives about the restaurant were the other waiter who actually gave us some water while we waited for our waiter to being us our shakes he was sweet and the food was great. After getting our check we ended up waiting another 10 minutes to pay our bill and no there was no line at all everyone was seated except a few people who had just came in, also you could see in the kitchen and the floor was dirty and covered in rappers and junk. I would go back again however if I receive the same treatment next time I will be having a big conversation with the restaurant manager because this was overall adgervating and ridiculous to wait almost an hour for food I'm not from grand Rapids and my man and I were having a date day at the museum prior so we were in a great mood when we came but not so much when we left thank you for reading I hope my comments help you decide use drive threw instead or better off just go to outback...

Waited between 5-10 minutes to be seated with my 2 children. After being seated, we were told waitress would be right with us. Sat in booth another 10 minutes. While waiting, a group was seated behind us. Waitress knowledge them and took their order while we were still waiting. Finally she takes our drink order, and I stated that we had actually been waiting for a little while now. Her response was "since she wasnt the one that seated us she didnt know we were waiting"...took our order right after table behind us...they got their drinks and food before me and my children even got our drinks. Then I could hear the server complaining about my comment to a coworker and laughing. Began to think her attitude was possibly based off who she thought would leave a nicer tip. Group behind us were older group dressed in business attire. Finally got drinks after 25 minutes of waiting...Food arrived 15 minutes later. Kids never got hats or crayons. Would've walked out but kids wanted to stay. Decided in the end to be the bigger person and show her tip doesn't always go off appearance. Bill was just under 19$, and even though we got poor service, tipped her 10$ to make an example for my kids that just because were treated poorly doesn't mean we treat other people poorly. Will not go back to this location again. They are lucky we came back after being handed my receipt that had been thrown in the garbage (I watched her through drive thru window dig it out of...
