Kacha Thai Bistro — Restaurant in Walnut Creek

I really wanted Thai food. I called made a reservation, told the person I was on the phone with that I travel with an ESA Emotional Support Animal ( mine is a 10 lb chihuahua. I was told over the phone not a problem. When we showed up we were directed to a table. I requested a booth as my ESA is much more comfortable in a booth. The server was accommodating but when she saw my ESA (a 10 lb chihuahua/poodle mix) she said we could not eat there with the dog. I showed her his credentials, she would Not except them. I told I called in advance and I was assured there would not be a problem. He is officially registered, which I pay as needed. He is officially confirmed by a Psychiatrist.

So you asked how was the food, who knows as we ended up leaving and going to a different restaurant around the block. It was not Thai, but we were welcomed and treated with respect. I spended over $500 at the other restaurant. This Thai...

I’ve been here a few times and generally have been quite happy. This last visit was a major exception. I came with my gf and one other friend. Here’s a general timeline.

10 minutes after we order: Gf’s food comes out. 20 minutes later: my food comes out. Gf’s food is cold at this point and goes back. 15 minutes later: Gf and other friend’s food comes out. Mine is now cold. They eat while the kitchen “makes me another dish.” 15 minutes later: Gf and other friend are finishing their dinners while mine comes out. Clearly just out of the microwave. I inhale my food while my gf and other friend talk to each other. Our drinks are long gone but the waitress is nowhere to be seen.

Eventually the waitress returns to the table just to drop off the check. Doesn’t refill drinks, doesn’t ask how things were, doesn’t offer an apology for failing to bring our dishes at the same time.

We are customers at Katcha for years. However, the last few times when ordering take out, their quality of food has been poor. We usually order pad thai, Pad see ew, and some curry or pumpkin curry. The seafood were not as fresh, in fact the shrimp was so hard, as if taken from a precooked cocktail just being reheated, the tofu was old ( hard), the noodles were stuck together not well prepared. Just very disappointed as these are favorites of my Mother. This last time ( few days ago) when ordering, I even told the waiter please make sure is fresh. They did make the noodles to order, but again failed on the tofu & the shrimp freshness. This may be because it is a take out or simply they don't have the same level of care for the food they serve.
