We came here to celebrate 2 separate birthdays at the same time and since I didn't book us a reservation for 6 people we had about a 45 minute wait time. The employees immediately right off the bat were extremely kind. I can't use elevators because of vertigo so I had an asthma attack walking up the stairs and they were so kind and checking to make sure I was all right! Once we were eventually seated, the waited made sure we got our drinks, kept refilling our waters, made sure we were all good, asked if we were there to celebrate, which yes, and was just generally great all around. Many MANY things were ordered between the 6 of us but as I can't speak on their behalf, I got a Caesar salad and Shirley temple. The Caesar salad was good and a decent size though I can't get past the price, but that was the whole place in general. The Shirley temple was great but the cherries were dark cherries and I wasn't expecting them to be so tart. That's a personal preference though. At the end of the meal, they asked if we'd like dessert and one of us said we'd look over the menu and then he came back shortly after with some free little desserts for our birthday people! No one else ended up getting dessert so we figured out payment and chatted. Why 4 stars, not 5? The ambience was painful. As someone who has sensory issues, it felt like I was drowning. We were against the back wall and right behind us there was a larger party screaming, everything was loud, the lights were super dim, but there was a TV on across the restaurant. My senses were just everywhere and it was hard to enjoy the atmosphere. It was a little overwhelming. Maybe not great if you have sensory issues or anything similar. Great besides that.

Nestled high above the bustling streets of Walnut Creek, Rooftop Restaurant has become my go-to spot for unforgettable dining experiences with loved ones. Whether it's a cozy dinner with my parents, a celebratory outing with coworkers, or a fun night out with friends, Rooftop never disappoints. The crown jewel of Rooftop is undoubtedly its breathtaking view of the city. From the moment you step onto the terrace, you're greeted by a panoramic vista that captures the essence of Walnut Creek in all its splendor. Whether it's the twinkling lights of the cityscape at night or the vibrant hues of the sunset painting the skyline, every visit offers a new perspective on this charming city. But Rooftop isn't just about the view—it's also about the culinary delights that await. The menu boasts a delectable array of dishes, each crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and bursting with flavor. From mouthwatering appetizers to decadent entrees and indulgent desserts, there's something to satisfy every palate. And let's not forget about the drinks—Rooftop's cocktail menu is as impressive as its view. Whether you're in the mood for a classic cocktail or a creative concoction crafted by the talented mixologists, each sip is a delight to the senses. But perhaps what sets Rooftop apart is the atmosphere. Whether you're enjoying a romantic dinner under the stars or mingling with friends over drinks, the ambiance is always warm, inviting, and infused with a sense of camaraderie. In short, Rooftop Restaurant is more than just a dining destination—it's an experience. With its unbeatable view, tasty food, and welcoming atmosphere, it's no wonder it's become a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

A Delight This restaurant transcends the ordinary, offering a truly delightful culinary journey evident in every dish and drink. Shrimp Vodka Rigatoni: Prepare for an explosion of flavor. The rigatoni, generously coated in a velvety, rich vodka sauce, provides the perfect canvas for the sweet and succulent shrimp. Each bite is a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that will leave you craving more. Crispy Fried Cauliflower: This isn't your average vegetable side. The Fried Cauliflower achieves a perfect golden crispness, delivering a satisfying crunch with every mouthful. Served alongside a thoughtfully crafted dipping sauce and vibrant fresh herbs, it's a flavorful and surprisingly addictive dish. Braised Short Rib Masterpiece: The Short Rib is not just a dish; it's a visual and gustatory experience. The slow-braised meat, boasting a deep, glossy glaze, promises fork-tender perfection. Accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and crisp-tender green beans, it's a comforting yet elegant plate. Mule: Quench your thirst with the Mule, a vibrant and refreshing cocktail that looks as good as it tastes. The bright hues and thoughtful garnish of an orange slice hint at the tropical flavors waiting to tantalize your senses. Though I felt the alcohol content was on the lower side. Beyond the exceptional taste, this restaurant clearly values the art of presentation. Each dish is thoughtfully composed, demonstrating a commitment to creating a memorable dining experience for every guest. With a diverse menu showcasing both classic favorites and innovative creations, there's undoubtedly something to delight every palate.

We visited the restaurant yesterday. Our reservation was for 11:45am but we arrived at 11:15am. We checked in with the hostess to see if we could be seated early but she brushed us off telling us that they were not open yet (although their website, Facebook and google all list 11am as their opening time). We walked around the city for a bit and then returned.

After arriving back at Rooftop the hostess took us to our table. Once we were seated she told us they may close for the day they were just waiting to hear from the owner. This was because there was mild smoke In Walnut Creek from fires in neighboring cities on the day we visited. To us it seemed entirely fine and as we walked around the city waiting for our reservation time the streets were crowded With walkers and shoppers.

A few minutes passed and (who I assume was) the manager came over and checked in with us to be sure we were comfortable at our table and we assured him that we were.

Immediately following this our server came over and asked very rudely “what do you want to drink.” We provided our drink orders and she followed with “what do you want to eat.”

At no point was there a hi, No how are you today, No I am _, I will be taking care of you today... nothing but curt questions that clearly conveyed her distaste for having to serve us.

This same level of service was experienced for the entire 45 minutes that we dined there. The food and drinks were very good and brought to us quickly... I assume this is because they wanted to cash out our $120 order and get us out.

When our drinks were brought to us they were simply sat down... zero words spoken...

When our food was brought to us the waitress said rudely “do you want anything else.” When we said yes, we would take another round of drinks she told us she could not get us anymore, they were going to close early. (So why ask us?) She then went and checked with the bartender and came back and said they would make them.

The ENTIRE experience was uncomfortable. The entire time I ate my shrimp tacos (which were delicious) there were 4 men watching me. I felt so rushed and as if visiting their establishment for Sunday lunch was inconveniencing their entire staff.

I understand the staff did not want to be there. They made it ABUNDANTLY clear. Each one of them made a point to stare and make us feel unwelcome.

Unfortunately for us our 10 year wedding anniversary and kid free lunch was spent at...

Rooftop has a ton of potential. It is super cute. Very clean. The vibe was great. We made reservations. Would recommend. There was quite the wait by the time we were wrapping up.

I gave the food 3 stars because we only tried three dishes. Truffle Fries, Bolognese and the Caesar salad. I would skip on the Caesar and Fries. Salad had almost no dressing. The chicken was fine. It also had an arugula base, not romaine (a bit weird). Fries weren’t very hot and lacked overall flavor and seasoning. The Bolognese was good. I would absolutely recommend and would order again. Butter Cake for dessert. This was the real star of the show. Drinks- The Express Martini (Espresso Martini) very good. My fiancé got the Mule. Also good.

Service: Aside from where we were seated (in a corner with a plant and a very wobbly table) The service wasn’t good. I’m not sure if our server is a full time server or was perhaps a bar tender filling in. It’s definitely not his strong suit. He never asked us if we wanted another drink. I had to flag down someone clearing a table to ask for another drink. While the server did get my order he didn’t ask my fiance. We flagged down someone again so she could try to get a second drink. When she tried explaining he had run off before she could ask for a drink He interrupted her and said “I wanted to verify you wanted the same drink before putting in your order” That made no sense. She didn’t give him her order.

I would like to give a shout out to the Female server that had the table to my left (along the railing outside). She was super kind and friendly. We wished we had her as our server.

We spent with tip - close to $200. They absolutely missed out on about another $50 from missed alcohol sales. Definitely not worth the price tag. Too bad because this place is so cute. I would also very much recommend removing that outside table in the corner that shares space with your plant. While It is one less table top- Customers will be happy to wait a bit longer for a better table and...

I went on a first date to this restaurant, they were no longer seating guests, but allowed us to sit at the bar. Right as our food was brought out, my date said he needed to take a phone call and stepped out. I took a couple bites of my food (tiny crab cakes) then realized I didn’t see my date standing outside the door anymore. After about 15 minutes went by I got worried and went downstairs to see if he was OK, I was met by a rooftop employee who yelled “Are you going to pay??” Not realizing he was talking to me, I kept walking and he followed behind me. I told him I was going to go check on my date and make sure everything was OK, he said “ok I’ll follow you. I saw both of you come out” I responded “Wait you saw him?? Where did he go??” then the employee says “I’m not understanding, is this a first date?” I said “yes” as I turned the corner and realized my dates car was gone, I had rode with him. I say out loud “ Wow he ditched me!” The employee responds “ yeah, we have a lot of dates here, some go really good and some not so good” at this point, I’m annoyed because this man just keeps saying dumb stuff to me while I’m trying to process what’s happened. We head back into the restaurant and while on the elevator, the employee continues to talk to me and asked how I liked the food🙄 we get back into the restaurant and he brings me to his manager who acts what’s going on, I break down everything that’s going on and tell him that the guy never touched his food so if they can remove that from the bill, it would be great and I’ll just pay for my portion. They agreed to do that but otherwise showed no concern for my safety or my experience at all other than if I liked the food. Do not go to this restaurant, they don’t care about the well-being of their...
