This last Sunday night me and my partner decided to go for dinner to this location. Sort of our date night it's hard to get out without the kids so we wanted to go somewhere and get a steak. For appetizers we got the jumbo prawns and mushroom soup, main courses we both got the bone in USDA prime ribeye topped with lobster tail, side of charred cauliflower and creamed spinach. Lastly for dessert got the lava cake and a key lime pie which we shared.
Appetizers:
The prawns were cooked just right very juicy and tender and full of flavor the mushroom soup was amazing both me and my partner really enjoyed the robust flavors from the soup. Deep mushroom garlic and peppery flavors.
Main course:
The steaks we ordered med rare when they came out they were stunning so I excitingly cut into it only to find it was overcooked. I looked over at my partner to find hers was the same. So I was thinking maybe not say anything just deal with the disappointment (not like me at all). When the waiter comes over and asked how the steaks were cooked, my very beautiful partner said they were over cooked before I could say anything. The waiter apologized for the mistake packed up the steaks we had for us to take to go and brought us two brand new steaks which came out stunningly perfect and quite delicious along with new hot sides and lobster tails. On top of that at the end when we received the bill he informed us that the steaks were on the house and apologized once again. The lobster tail topper was not impressive and we could have done without.
Desserts:
So my partner and I both were craving the same two desserts and couldn't pick so we decided to get both and share which were chocolate lava cake and key lime pie. The key lime pie was very good, the chocolate lava cake was just a chocolate lava cake and was not anything to write home about.
Conclusion:
Overall we enjoyed the food and the service. Yes there was a mistake, but mistakes are going to happen. These days many restaurants make mistakes and do nothing. When a mistake happens that's the restaurants opportunity to shine and show how much they value their patrons. They more than rectified the mistake they made and showed that they care about my business I will definitely be returning to...
Read moreMy fiancé surprised me with a wonderful date exploring the Walnut Creek area with a hike and then nice dinner at Fleming's (after a change of clothes, of course). We arrived five minutes after opening without a reservation and upon requesting a table for two were awkwardly directed over to the bar. We were not asked if we would like make a reservation for later that evening or given the option of waiting for a table (even though there were only 2 tables occupied). We explained this to the bartender (Jeneé?) who helped us get a table in the dining area for the experience. Great customer service on her part! However, not too long after being seated in the dining area, we realized that it probably would have been better to do happy hour at the bar. The bar has a more relaxed atmosphere, serves the full menu, AND has a Happy Hour Menu from 5-7pm. The service felt "stuffy"-- although we've been to a handful of fine establishments before, I've never felt so awkward for insisting I didn't want wine or another cocktail or sides to go with my steak. Food was good but not great. I ordered my steak medium and was happy with pink center the first cut revealed, but a third way into the steak, I realized that the rest of it was well-done. I didn't want to say something after eating almost half of the $55 steak, although in retrospect, perhaps I should have... The "Sunday dinner" came with a Cesar salad, slow-cooked filet tenderloin, and dessert. The creme bruleé was absolutely delicious! Other parts were good- the tenderloin reminded me of the meat we cooked in our Instant Pot. Steak at $$$ restaurants in the Bay Area are at least as good, but perhaps we'll try the specials next time... A cocktail, Sunday special, and steak was a good-but-not-great steak dinner for $160, after tax & tip.
Pros: elegant atmosphere, delicious drinks and dessert, great Happy Hour specials at the bar, great bread starter, next to Cost Plus World Market! Cons: very pricey and pretentious, possibly awkward if you are not familiar with the routine, expected steak to be more tender...
Read moreMy first visit. Very excited, been wating to visit for a while. Live a distance away. About a 2 hour visit, seated in booth bar area. Pleasant environment. When the wait person arrived, we were NOT asked if we had been there before, we're glad you came...So I was not aware you could get bread. It should be offered and given a chance to be turned down by customers. All of the sides were decadent and delicious shareable portions. The steak: mother and teen daughter, bonding time. My daughter got the filet mignon medium-rare, tender, well seasoned, perfectly cooked. I asked the waitress to assist me with choosing a steak suited for my taste since I'd never visited. I chose more marbling and tender. Suggestion, and I agreed, New York Prime, medium-rare (I always order medium-rare). Came out medium-well, dry and definately not tender, not marbled, in fact chewy. I could have cooked a better steak I brought home from the market for under $60. Mentioned to the waitress the poor preparation and quality. She brought out butter to make it less dry and more tender! At the end of the meal, I noticed several other tables getting bread. I asked why we didnt get bread, was told by wait staff, customers have to ask. It should be offered and given a chance to be turned down by customers. I order wine to sip prior to dinner arriving and mentioned to the waitress that I would like another glass once the steak came. Never asked if I was ready for the next glass. Waters were never refilled. The waitress was not attentive to our table. It appeared that all tables with men seated at them were catered to very closely. I decided that if I wanted service I would have to get up and ask for bread, water and a refill on my wine. This is at the end of the meal. For 2 people the tab was $214. Do I have to spend more to get better service and a quality steak at a prime steakhouse? My opinion, my prime New York was a $15 value? In the end, the dining experience did not spoil the quality time with...
