The tacos were mediocre. They would have been good except the service was lacking. The appetizer and the entree came out together. The size of the table made it impossible to eat the two at the same time. So by the time I got to the entree the tacos were a slimy wet mess.
I ordered the chips and salsa but got charged for the chips and guacamole. Thankfully the alternate server reviewed my check on his handheld computer.
But what's worse, my server asked me if I wanted a refill on my chips. I figured he noticed that I was sitting there with a half full basket of completely crushed chips. He brought me more chips. But then he had the audacity to charge me for the chips.
This is one of those restaurants where the wait staff are very stove piped into there section of the restaurant. No server dare even glance toward another section for fear that a customer who's been waiting for 15 minutes for a part of the order that's missing might summon him. I sat for 15 minutes missing part of my order unable to flag down a server despite several walking near me. No server dare make eye contact with any customer. I finally stood up and walked across the restaurant and waved to attract my server. This is the server that never brought the chips and salsa, charged me for the chips and guacamole then had the audacity to charge me to refill my basket of crushed chips.
So I asked to speak to the manager. I finished my meal and no manager. I asked another server if the first server had summoned the manager. He said probably not because the manager was very busy working in the kitchen.
This revealed the problem. There's no supervision or leadership. The manager can't interact with the customers because she is working in the kitchen.
The ambiance was very inviting. I was actually walking to an Indian restaurant when I spotted this place and stopped in.
I'll probably never...
Read moreI wanted this place to be really good. My wife has been expectantly waiting for them to open for over a year. We went as Vegetarians tonight for "Meatless Monday" and were very encouraged by the menu. We started with a very good guacamole and freshly made chips....all good so far. Then a wooden platter of four different vegetarian tacos arrived (we ordered the 5 tacos for the table and got 3 different tacos and two rajas tacos for $25 which saved us $1.25). We tried the Rajas Tacos. We love rajas. We make rajas once or twice a month at home. These were unlike any rajas I have seen or read about. Instead of sautéed Poblano chile strips with soft sautéed white onions, they had used almost all red bell pepper, only a few Poblano strips and crunchy sautéed red onion. It was sweet. It tasted like Italian Pepperonata. What a disappointment. There was one cauliflower taco. Mildly bitter, al dente, florets with chopped red onion, cilantro and probably some other things. Neither of us liked it at all. But the tortilla was fantastic. There was a Portobello Taco, again with crunchy sautéed red onion, and a brown sauce. Again, the tortilla was fantastic. We left half of this taco uneaten. Finally, the surprising Zucchini taco. It was simple, flavorful and quickly disappeared. Apparently they change the menu every month. We will be back to try again. I would be happy with their excellent tortillas and guacamole and give the beans a try. It is a very nice space. There is a good selection of beers and Tequila and Mezcal drinks and service was very good. But I left wanting some of the delicious food I have...
Read moreWhat a horrible experience! Went for a brunch on Sunday. First time ever and last time of course. Ordered an eggs benedict Benedicto Yucateco, poached eggs on top of a tamal. Eggs came fried not poached. I let the waiter know he offered to fix it but told him it’s okay I could eat the fried egg until I realized after a few bites that it wasn’t tamal under my eggs but just a plain corn tortilla. (The whole pile was covered in thick mole type sauce) so i told the waiter again that it wasn’t my order. After asking with the cook he came back again and told me that yeah they ran out of tamal so just decided to throw me just a plain corn tortilla in place of the tamal!! So basically it’s like trying to buy an apple but they gave you an orange instead expecting you to be wo dumb you won’t notice. So still being the nice person I told him okay this is unacceptable and rude but since i was eating it anyway and it tasted quite good that’s okay I’ll eat it. He didn’t offer to give me discount or even try to comp me but kept offering a free flan. So my husband said okay I’ll take the flan. Flan never came. We sat for a long time way past after we’re done with the food and the waiter came back with pieces of churros. We were like what?? I thought you said flan. He was like ohhh you guys wanted flan?? Like what??? I wasn’t sure if he was pretending or just high or something else. We only ate 1 piece of the churros. They were greasy and covered thickly with cinnamon sugar. I wanted to talk to the manager but you know what let’s just get out of...
