I was in a wedding party and the reception was held at this restaurant. I am a family member of the groom. I had decided not to take pictures on this wedding celebration of the establishment or food out of respect for the bride and groom, I wanted to be fully present for the moment and share with them and other guests. First impression pulling up the manager Renee greets us looking at her watch and telling us we're late. Someone asked how late and she replied a half hour. Ok no one said anything further and I thought to myself we're the last party in a rented room that's paid for; it was a tacky comment but moving on. We were seated in our respective table for the evening and the waitstaff came over. There was no friendly greeting, name given, smile, or other act of welcoming you would expect of the waitstaff. We were asked to provide our choice of meal and they actually looked at the cards, after the guests told them their choice. The staff had to see it printed on the card. I thought this was uncouth. No one asked what temperature they wanted the filet cooked. One guest received well done and preferred rare. The manager Renee came over and said there was no more filet. The guest replied so you mean to tell me there is not one piece left in the restaurant, for any guest, even outside of the wedding for other patrons in this building?" She answered, "no there isn't." The other guest also wanted to point out their filet was extremely small. The manager then became upset and rudely stated with attitude that every piece was weighed etc. and rambled on and put her hands on a guest's shoulders. The person asked her to remove her hands from them. It was then pointed out to her that instead of trying to be part of a solution, she was adding to the problem and actually making it worse. She then apologized and walked away over to the bride and groom and explained the issues that the wedding party had with the food. This was absolutely unbelievable and unacceptable. You don't go and pull the bride and groom into an issue over food. How disrespectful of their wedding day. Shame on you Renee. A person went over to Renee, to interrupt her, to try and stop her from making this worse for everyone. They stated they pulled her aside and asked that she let this go and handle it accordingly and to leave the bride and groom out of her situation with the food. She stated they called her over and asked what was going on. Later the groom came over to us and asked what was going on with the manager. The groom stated she came over and started ranting about the wedding party. Someone asked him if they called her over and the groom stated no. So Renee outright lied. She then returned to our table after the groom walked away. Someone stated they would be speaking to the owner about her actions and she went over to them while they were sitting putting both her hands once again on their biceps. She asked her to take her hands off and to back off. She then asked what the names were of the owners. At this point everyone at our table of eight had enough of this extremely unprofessional, unpleasant, goading individual who unfortunately has the job of managing this establishment. What an poor representation of this business. Someone then asked her if she was a business owner to which she said no. He then said well I am and you'd have no place in my company. Later the bride explained she had been annoying from the moment they arrived. She also explained they charged her the rate for the upstairs room, and put them in the downstairs room, after the coordinator learned they had a handicapped individual in the wedding. They do not have a handicapped accessible entrance for the upstairs room but still charged them for the original bigger room. They also went on to charge seven extra dollars for each plate because it was fathers day. I'm so sickened and dumbfounded by this whole situation. Renee ruined this celebration. I certainly will not be returning nor will anyone from this wedding after learning of the unprofessional actions...
Read moreSpring 2024 review - 1 star Rooftop for drinks. Wharf continues to be warped. Seating areas with firepits are now reserved with table service, but no table service if you are at any other table. Bartender made our drinks and then disappeared and we could see our drinks across the way. Another bartender brought us our drinks and confessed that our bartender disappeared. The drink menu said $13 for a list of cocktails but we were charged $14. When questioned the bartender said it was a new menu and the price went up. The manager did give us the $ back but they didn't remove the $13 menu from the bar! Scammers! I wouldn't ever come back here, but my friends seem to like it.
Summer 2023 review - 2 stars We did have a nice meal here. Our waiter decided to regale us with stories about how well known he is in the Providence restaurant scene and how much he loves to travel. He wasn't interested in us but clearly wanted us to be interested in him. It was weird. We do go upstairs to the roof deck for drinks from time to time. It's next to a function room that serves food, but no food is served on the roof deck. There is a guy singing and playing guitar on the roof deck that could do without an amp since the bartenders can't hear you when you order. No table service. You have to continually get up and order at the bar. A staff member came out and turned on the gas firepits for 2 parties but ignored us (he must work as a host as well 🤣) and we had to ask for our pit to be lit. He seemed annoyed that he had to come back and light the pit, but could of saved himself the trip if he just took care of everyone the first time around. The cushions on the couches are often wet - assuming from spilled drinks or not drying after rainstorms. No matter why we come here, there is always a disappointment with the staff. Indoor dining review 1 star We walked in here recently and 2 hostesses completely ignored us. We walked out and spent our money elsewhere. I strongly suggest avoiding this establishment. Old review 3 stars After reno has proven difficult to get in. Hostesses are 12 years old and love to tell you no. No seats. No outside tables. Wait times are ridiculous. We sat on the water and it was beautiful, but the food was just ok. Really disappointed. The old Wharf had better food and nicer staff. Long time to wait for the reno to be completed to be let down. We might be back to give you a second chance. I did enjoy the...
Read moreWent out on a Saterday night for reservations we made for dinner at 8pm for 7 people the weekend after Father's day, not knowing they close at 9pm. In most cases you would assume you wouldn't take reservations 1 hour before you close for party's for 6+ people ..... Our server who was very busy when we arrived (2nd half of the group) took our drink orders after about 10-15 min which is no problem but took our food orders much later, about 15 min before they closed 9pm. we like to have a nice time when we go out we get appetizers and drinks usually when we are out to celebrate and we all felt very rushed bussers floating around the tables trying to take my sister-in-laws same water that she wasn't finished with told the same busser 3 times that she wasn't finished with the water..
also they sent in a team of silverware rollers halfway into the meals there were multiple other parties in different rooms and we weren't the last party to leave the restaurant including a party of 15 outside..... so it's now very loud in this area and we haven't gotten to order our 2nd round of drinks because we haven't seen the server in maybe 25 min never refilled anyone's water.... eventually we get to order the drinks and dessert presentation comes out looks great we order 2 to split with the table had to get our own side plates and constant flow of bussers pulling plates and glasses that we aren't finished with ......we get the bill ...10$ upcharge for the asparagus and a garenteed 20% for server for any party over 6 people (its their policy to add the 20% gratuity)on a 35-45$ a plate price tag is far too expensive for the experience we had... it was very different that any other experience I can remember. I felt that the front of house service is not Incentivized to give great service if you know your getting 20% no matter what the quality of service may be.
if anything maybe this will help a few people who enjoy sitting for 2+ hour dinner/night out, choose somewhere that is more courteous (of your night and your experience) by making reservations for Saterday night knowing they close in an hour and the service who some have worked 8+ hours don't wanna stay for 2 tables an extra 2 hours no matter how much they make.........
I was a server for 6+ years in multiple "fine dining" established restaurants in the state and I've never seen anything...
