Tried for the first time today. I heard about it a few weeks ago and Dublin is always in need of more Levantine cuisine. I know this restaurant is related to Mazah, but I haven't been to Mazah it is a bit too far of a drive for me. Let me begin by saying I love Lebanese food! I am vegetarian and I am always in search of heavily veg restaurants. We ordered the kitchen sampler, the falafel pita, and a side of the zatar fries.
Falafel Kitchen is located two vendor spots down from the southwest entrance of the North Market in Dublin (inside). Note there is a parking garage on the building if there is no street parking with elevator and stair accessibility into the market. There is seating inside if you want to eat there as well as a few tables/bar settings outside.
From ordering standpoint, their food seems on the expensive side, but the portions are very generous and the food is made with incredibly fresh, quality ingredients. Most of the main courses on the menu could be split between two people. I completely believe the price is worth it.
This is the best falafel in the area by far! It is even better than my favorite central Ohio Lebanese restaurant (don't tell them!). The shape is reminiscent of Indian vada, I can't help but smile about that, but I really think this produces a crispier falafel with a larger exposed surface area. Ingenious. The baba was smooth and smoky. The hummus is very creamy and balanced wonderfully. The pita is ok. I'm not sure if it is bought premade or in house. Maybe it will soften up if I heat it a little - its in between dry and moist if that makes sense. Great for use as a pita pocket, but a little stiff for dipping. Lifit is good like all lifit is. I really liked the cabbage and potato salads - pictures online showed califlower in the cabbage salad, but I didn't get any so I don't know if that is another dish I was confusing it for. The fries were good, but I would have liked a feta option (my obsession with feta might be a personal problem though).
The falafel pita is HUGE and the stuffings are delicious. Overall I was really impressed with the food. I definitely will be back since I am a mile away from this place. The only things they are missing on the menu are majadara and veg...
Read moreTL; DR: Delicious food. The falafel pita pockets are absolutely amazing. Do try the cilantro-jalapeño sauce, or the mango sauce – both are incredible!
Bonus: VERY VEGAN FRIENDLY!!
So for starters, I've only ever done take out over here. North market is too noisy for me to stick around.
My standard order here is falafel pita pockets, bag of falafels, and za'tar fries with extra seasoning. The pockets come with hummus, lettuce, salad, cabbage slaw, turnip pickles and some other things. This is one my favorite things to eat. It's large enough that I usually get two meals out of it when I am doing portion control. The only way I can put it is that the wholesome flavors leave my soul feeling refreshed! Their falafels are one of the best I've had – crisp, moist and surprisingly grease free!
Same with their hummus - one of the best I've had!
You would think that fries couldn't be any different from any other fries but the seasoning makes all the difference!
The pièce de résistance has to be the sauces, of which the mango sauce is absolutely the peak! The cilantro-jalapeño is a close second!
What makes all of this great is the consistency in the flavors every single time I order from here!
They also have a great red lentil soup, although I've only had that...
Read moreI live near Bridge Park and I find it doesn't have too many restaurants I'd want to frequent, but this place has potential. For starters, you get a lot of food for your buck. I like the different sampler options, so you can have tons of variety with your meals. The falafels are enjoyable and I'll gladly eat them again. The chicken shawarma is mildly tender and has pretty good flavor. I'm usually more of a hummus person, but their baba is amazing -- some of the best I've ever had! (The hummus is pretty good too). The potato salad, cabbage salad, and tabouli were nothing special, but lighter components to balance everything out. The tabouli has a little heat to it if you like that. I'll definitely be back for more and work Falafel Kitchen into my cycle of local restaurants to visit on a...
