Horrible Avoid This Place MSG! Awful, horrible, pathetic! My wife and I were excited to try (Lan Viet) hungry for bánh mì and pho. The sandwiches were dry and for some reason made with butter & mayonnaise, and the pho was loaded with MSG and tasted like a salt cake. To make matters worse, the non Vietnamese Latino owner seemed to have his hate on for the customers. When we asked for two spoons to share our soup, he was all huffed off about it. Then when I asked for more than one condiment packet for the entire meal he said one is all you get unless you pay for it. I told him there were two of us ordering and we would need more than one tiny Hoisin and Sriracha packet. (Hoisin & Sriracha only available in tiny foil packets .cheap cheap stingy) I was charged several dollars for 3 more tiny condiments packets. WTH?? Never in my life have I experienced anything like this at an Asian restaurant. Horrible food and even worse customer service. I always base my reviews on value. Please go somewhere else! Lan Viet is a hidden gem that our family just recently discovered in Columbus. We are actually quite impressed with their menu which offers a variety of traditional dishes. Our family loves the banh mi sandwiches, and order them every time. The crusty baguette, stuffed with savory meats, pickled vegetables, and fresh cilantro, offers a perfect balance of textures and flavors. The grill chicken banh mi, in particular, stands out for its fragrant and tangy profile. The spring rolls at Lan Viet are another highlight. Crispy on the outside and bursting with fresh herbs, shrimp, and pork on the inside. Service at Lan Viet is friendly and attentive. Seems pretty popular, except seeing this little sanitary issue INSTANTLY stopped me from ever actually trying it as I like my food to be prepped safely so I don't get salmonella from the trash can below this cutting board that they're cutting the chicken on 😅🤣🤢🤮

Edit: 09/12/23 Saw some flour directly on the ground (picture #2), which is not food safe since everything is suppose to be 6" off the ground. Lol how many critical health violations can one place do?

Also, note all of the food left out on the counter I would bet anyone $100, that none of that is within safe temperatures (none of it is labeled either, which its required to be). pleaaassee shut this down before...
