Came unexpectedly after a late dinner on a Thursday night. I wasn't sure if they were still open since it was 15 minutes prior to closing and there weren't any customers. I walked in and there were 2 young ladies working. I asked if they were still open and apologized when they said not for 15 more minutes. However, they were more than happy to explain the different ice creams, scoops allowed with each bowl size, and take my order without ever making me feel rushed. I explained I would sit down for a few minutes, but would be done before closing as I didn't want to be "that customer". They had outstanding customer service and were doing their closing duties without ever rushing me.
I don't remember the exact ice cream names as was trying to order quickly, but it was Buckeye something that contained Peanut Butter Ice cream and a Chocolate crisp something. They even went as far as asking me which ice cream on bottom. These 2 young workers paid attention to every detail of customer service. I didn't get their names, but they closed on Thursday 10/28. As far as the ice cream, both scoops were very silky, creamy, and very freshly made. They both had a mix of different flavors that went well together without being overwhelming.
Overall, great ice cream with great customer service. Had the feeling of a small, old-style personal ice cream shop. Enjoyed just sitting down and enjoying some good homemade ice cream. Will definitely return to try some...
Read moreI wanted to love this place as we had it from their food truck a few years ago at an event and it was delicious. We went for ice cream after dinner in Dublin and it is a great location and awesome outdoor seating for a nice summer night. The ice cream was underwhelming though, my daughter had cookie dough and I had butterscotch toffee and both of us had very little "chunks" of cookie dough and toffee and we both had ice chunks. my husband got the wrong flavor, asked for strawberry and chocolate and the strawberry was definitely not strawberry! It was a bright pink color and was ultra sweet almost like a raspberry sorbet. It was crowded so he didn't go back to get it fixed, and I'm sure they would have made him another. Overall the flavor was ok, just overall a very average ice...
Read moreWhat it comes down to is location. Are you closer to Dulce Vida, The Little Ice Cream Shoppe, or Johnson's Real Ice Cream?
Dulce Vida is bright and vibrant, and the only ice cream place with a unique and memorable atomosphere. Little Ice Cream Shoppe is like stepping back in time to a moment when you didn't have to worry about work and bills.
And Johnson's Real Ice Cream doesn't have either of those qualities, but it's a straightfoward place. You get great ice cream for an okay price. There's not much to remember about Johnson's other than every flavor is good, and high quality. But sometimes you don't really need more than that.
The portions are a little on the skimpy side. But... it's ice cream. You probably don't need as much...
