I will be the first to admit that I am a creature of habit. Living downtown Columbus sometimes it's difficult for me to choose to go to suburbs or areas that are driving distance away.
Friends were together the other night and we went to pick up all of our credentials for the Memorial tournament volunteering efforts and then we chose to do dinner. I had never been to the Dublin Village Tavern until that night.
It's such a neat little area and do I say it's in old Dublin. The small intimate exterior patio that you see as you walk up is sort cool. And then you walk into what to me felt like an old house or an Old Tavern truly converted to this high energy exciting vibrant attractive environment.
Let me tell ya that I was blown away with service. I believe service is the key to beginning a great experience in any establishment. Okay, so you know that I like the service now let me tell you about the Irish drinks/beers and Foods. I tell you that you want that little Irish twist and I thought it was really definitely that Irish vibe.
That food and the conversation that we had with the server about the food definitely indicated to me that the servers wanted to do a good job and the servers knew what they were doing with what was on the menu. The presentation of the food was one thing and then you open your mouth and you take that first bite. The food to me was like where did this flavor come from. I'd suggest that you just look at the taste. Now I know saying 'look at the taste' doesn't really make sense but when you feel like you're eating a piece of art and you get that excited that is something that doesn't always happen in any given situation. The other night maybe it was that we were all together as a group of friends...maybe it was that our server made us feel like we were in his home...maybe it really was that much of a big shift...who knows but it really was nice.
I'm not a fan at all I guess of big corporate chain restaurants, bars or establishment. I cherish real true service nd it is one extremely important aspect to my experience.
I'm a real supporter of local small business entrepreneurs and I know nothing about the business background or the business acumen of those that own and run the Dublin Village Tavern but I would like to because this is one cool place.
I don't know about anyone else but I found old Dublin parking to be easy to find and accessible. Now I will tell you that new round-about that is at Route 33 and 161 is a mess. I don't like that but you can get into Old Dublin a lot of different ways. It's well worth the drive from downtown Columbus for those of us who live there and don't necessarily go to the Dublin area to shop.
Thanks for a great night those of you that make the Dublin Village Tavern so attractive and inviting because I sure...
Read moreMy family of 6 was visiting from out of state and decided to eat here because of the good reviews. My oldest sister is disabled and uses a wheelchair and when we asked if we could move the tables outside closer so we could all sit together, the hostess said we couldn’t. We asked to talk to the manager to make sure and he said no again due to the table umbrellas which weren’t even being used. He seemed just unwilling to accommodate us professionally and personally. We were extremely frustrated because the tables could move easily and it seemed like a simple accommodation. It was only then we were informed us of an accessible entrance into the building. At that point we were frustrated and left. Even if the tables couldn’t have moved for whatever reason, they could have been much more compassionate. It can be very hard to find accessible things when traveling at times but it’s understandable. Kind and understanding workers are so greatly appreciated. It’s a shame the Dublin Village Tavern was not.
We ended up going to Mezzo across the street which was incredibly accommodating, kind,...
Read moreFood was good and comes out very fast! Our waitress was nice but she seemed like she was in a hurry for us to go as we were sitting at a six person table. She would walk by our table to serve one of the other tables, and just look at our table and look at us every time . Nobody was waiting for a table though because we were sitting right where they walk in the door and we were being cognizant of that. We were still drinking our drinks as we were visiting each other. But as soon as the last morsel of food was eaten, she was there with our checks and seem to be ready for us to leave. I heard her tell somebody when she collected her checks but she thought 5 to 10 minutes I could clean that table. Well nobody walked in the door needing the table, so we stayed another 20-30 minutes and continue to drink our beverages. It was a little off-putting, but it's a small place so I get that they're trying to get people in and out. Again understandable if somebody was coming and waiting for the table, but there was nobody waiting on our table or waiting on any table for...
