I met my sister here for lunch as this is one of her favorite places to dine. I read in one of my FB groups that they had great French Onion Soup. So I decided to get the lunch combo, which was a French Onion Soup (plus a $1 extra if you wanted the bread crouton and cold shredded cheese to add to the soup, otherwise, just a broth and onion soup), ham and brie cheese (all cold) with a viniagrette and then a Ceasar Salad. The bread/roll for the sandwich was great, nice and fresh and tasty, as was the viniagrette, but the ham was a normal deli slices of ham and a couple of cold slices of Brie cheese. The soup was the worst French Onion Soup I have ever had and I am in my early 60's, so I have had a bunch. I am used to a beef/onion broth with a piece of bread/crouton in the soup, then topped with gruyere cheese which is then broiled/melted. This was a totally concentrated beef broth with onions, almost had a vinegar flavor and was very oily, then there wasn't any cheese or bread in it, unless you paid for it. Now onto the last part, the salad. I love a good Ceasar Salad, but I like crisp romaine lettuce with a lemony dressing and crisp croutons. This was a salad that was soggy, drenched in dressing, although might have been good had it not been double dressed with the dressing. I like the breads and maybe would try the pastries, otherwise will not return. For the combo, diet coke and the added croutons and shredded cheese was just over $20, not worth even half...
Read moreDont expect a wonderful french bakery overflowing with delicious baked goods or mildly happy service. Nowhere in Dublin to have a decent breakfast. 8am and theres an odd cafeteria style counter to slide your school lunch program tray along. Stood at the entrance for a couple minutes expecting to be seated before I realized this. Display cases with a couple REALLY sad looking croissants and single serving quiches that appeared to be left over from the day before. NO selection of bakery treats at this "french bakery". Unbelievably limited menu so I foolishly order a "parisienne omlette". Nasty tiny pieces of packaged sliced water added ham you find at a gas station, a couple black slices of canned, NOT FRESH mushroom and some mediocre sliced swiss cheese again from a grocery store package. Egg so thin it resembles a crepe instead of a fluffy, cream added omlette properly done. Sitting on a plate, alone and sad without even a garnish of something colorful, no taters precious, nothing. The poor, somewhat harried, apparently french woman whom I couldn't understand despite my grasp of conversational french was overwhelmed despite there being almost nobody there brought me a bowl of gruel and rasberries instead of my omlette, then switched it with another guy at another table. Nothing special "french" coffee and a piece of baguette bread she wrapped in paper rounded out this disappointing Rick Steves journey into authentic gallic cuisine. $12...
Read moreEdit 3-24: It's still great. This time, we got a raspberry croissant and a double baked almond croissant. The raspberry was just okay. Almond was much better, but neither was as enjoyable as that mousse I had last time. This place is pricy as all get out though. 2 Croque madame, 2 croissants, and 1 coffee was over $60 with tip. I'm only down there like once a year, so it's not a big deal, but if I lived there this place definitely couldn't be in a normal rotation for me.
I go here every time I'm in Columbus visiting my cousins. It's pricy, but it's so good. I always get a Croque Madame (French bread, Bechamel, Gruyere, & ham baked sandwich topped with an over easy egg), French roast coffee, and some kind of dessert or pastry (this time chocolate mousse). As you can see in this photo I spent $28, so it's definitely a splurge for the experience type of situation here (at least for me, I couldn't bring myself to regularly spend that much on a single small meal.) The coffee is fantastic. It's $4, and they have to-go cups (which they let me take a cup to go even after drinking an unhealthy amount while shooting the breeze with my cousins and a friend in the restaurant). If you're a Starbucks person (I am not) I think you're used to spending that much or more for your coffee, so you may want to stop to get your cup here one day to see if you...
