I live nearby and came here on a Friday night just after this spot popped up in several local places online... and it's getting a warm reception! What that meant for us, as walk-ups, was a half-hour wait for food that we ate at one of the couple of tables outside.
You might get the feeling that this review is going negative, right? On the contrary! The wait was totally understandable, and as we waited, we saw several other orders, many through the apps, come and go. There were Doordash and Grubhub stickers on the window.
Long story short, it seems like this place has cornered a market for delicious, affordable Korean food inside the city limits. They don't have any fried stuff, like pork cutlet/돈가스 or Korean style fried chicken, like Kochix some blocks down the street, so count that out. But they have a lot of the other stuff, which in Korea is called bunsik/분식 (kind of like fast food). So if you know Korea, this place might remind you a little bit of a place called gimbap heaven/김밥천국, haha....
Lack of a deep fry aside, the options we tried are so far really delicious. One omurice/오므라이스/fried rice w/spam+veggies, and one jaeyuk deopbap/제육덮밥/stir fried pork and veggies were both really tasty, big portions, AND well packed for takeout. Some of the chile peppers in the jaeyuk were HOT! I'm glad they didn't hold back on the peppers. Regular and radish kimchi were included as sides, though many others are available.
If you can come in person it's well worth it - just order ahead! You can find several "very Korean" snacks and drinks to enjoy while you wait. And expect that your online order might be a bit slow for now, given the popularity. Patience is probably key even if ordering ahead.
5/5, so glad to have a Korean spot in the...
Read morePeople who do NOT want to eliminate sugar and preservatives from their Gochugaru, etc may find suitable spices. I did not ask about their prepared foods. The brand of refrigerated coconut water for sale did NOT have additives or added processed sugars. But, the price point @ $5.99 was too rich for me. Otherwise, their snacking options drive obesity, premature aging, and turn on genetic markers for disease in a neighborhood of folks that may not...
Read moreGreat neighborhood spot! I’m so glad they are here. All the food was super fresh and good. We got bulgogi bibimbap and spicy tuna kimbap. The store also had lots of Korean snacks and drinks to purchase. I want to go back to try some of the chips and sweets. The woman working there was really nice and answered all our questions....
