It’s that time of year when Death Punch bar in Adams Morgan hosts its Miracle Holiday Pop Up Bar.
Once you enter, you head upstairs to a festive, holiday wonderland bar decorated with colorful lights and fun life-sized Santa and reindeer.
The Miracle special holiday cocktail menu features more than a dozen themed cocktails w/ fun names like “Stocking Stuffer” or “Nice” or “Naughty” shots.
The movie Elf was playing along with holiday music to create a cozy and charming vibe.
In previous years, reservations for this special holiday popup were required, but this year, that’s not the case, which is nice. You can just walk-in.
We arrived soon after they opened at 5p and it was perfect because there were plenty of seats and it wasn’t crowded yet. I suspect as it gets later, it gets more crowded.
Shout out to Nikki the bartender for handcrafting and photo styling a perfectly flavored cocktail called the “Yippie Ki Ya Mother F@%#@r”, a rum-based cocktail with orgeat, pineapple, coconut and ube w/ a fresh mint leaf lightly dusted w/ powdered sugar to make it look like snow.
All of the cocktails come in the cutest holiday-themed mugs, which are available for purchase.
There are also a few holiday photo opps around what feels like someone’s, cozy living room.
One thing that would be good is if there were a few holiday-themed mocktails on the menu. My friend didn’t want an alcoholic drink, so it would have been nice if there was something like a fun-flavored cider or hot chocolate available for purchase.
That being said, if you want a festive cocktail experience to celebrate the holidays, stop by Death Punch. They will be open from now until New Year’s Eve and even on Christmas Day.
Check their website for their hours. 💡Tip: Go on the early side if you want to get your pick of seats & it will be less crowded to take some nice, festive holiday...
Read moreYou’d think a Christmas pop up bar that also has outdoor seating would also make the outdoor area an experience too, however picnic tables did not give any sort of Christmas vibe whatsoever. We could only order drinks from the overpriced Christmas drink menu I.e no beer or wine from their regular menu (even though the table next to us were all drinking beer). When they brought the “drinks” out they were in red solo cups and only 1/4 to 1/2 full (understandable based on the type of alcohol), but for $16 it was unacceptable. Overall it was extremely disappointing. It started to rain after we ordered our food and the waitress told us we would have to take our food to-go because they wanted to shut down the outdoor seating area. They had no room inside, so essentially they wanted to kick us to the curb while it was down pouring. Terrible experience all together. I’m sure it’s a cute/fun place if you’re able to get a table inside. Based on my experience, Urban roast is the place to go if you’re looking for an all around (inside and outside) Christmas themed...
Read moreMiracle pop up at Death Punch - the only good part was the holiday decor. Overall, it was so much better last year. Clear that they were so unprepared for this pop up. The food menu was incredibly limited (4 sushi roll options, fried chicken, brussels sprouts, and some meat skewers). Every drink is around $16 each. Drinks served to us were not ours and we let our server know. They took the wrong drinks we drank out of back when they brought the correct ones and said 'policy won't let you keep them' really hope others were not served those drinks!!! We were told that they were out of all of the Miracle shots. Couldn't buy the Miracle drink mugs because they hadn't been delivered yet (we came early on in the date range that Miracle is running specifically because last year we were too late and the mugs were sold out). They took our number, but it was so disorganized I seriously doubt anyone calls when the shipment comes in. Only 1 payment method allowed. Just an unprepared disorganized vibe all around for something that is supposed...
