Without question the worst quality expensive steaks I've ever had. One of them was one of the worst steaks I've ever had of any cost. The other was far over cooked so the quality of the meat, even if it'd been excellent, was overwhelmed. I ordered medium rare both times and got one medium and one medium well. They give you a tiny amount of mashed potatoes and then smear it across the plate so the mashed potatoes are almost instantly cold. Their non-alcoholic drink selection, as far as sodas go, was extremely limited. Everything in the place is extremely expensive. Terrible dining experience for dinner.
Breakfast for me was the oatmeal with fruit. It's quite good, the fruit was fresh and you get a lot of it. Just that, with no drink other than water, was almost the only thing I could afford on my $20 breakfast per diem.
They put a 20% tip on every meal regardless of how many people there are and while it's not entirely hidden, it certainly isn't stated clearly and obviously enough to be considered ethical. However, the staff I interacted with absolutely deserve it. Every staff member I interacted with at The Fireclay/Hotel Washington was excellent in every way. Great people. Terrible...
Read morePoor experience from start to finish with bland, over priced food, and bad service. No hostess present to seat me despite being 7pm and only 5 tables full, bartender sat me at the bar which was fine, asked for my drink order then walked away before I could her what liquor I wanted but ok. She asked for my card I said I was not opening a tab as I was just here for dinner and one drink. She walked away. Came back got my dinner order and asked for my card again. I said I was planning to pay with cash, she said cash? I said yes, she walked away again. Brought out my dinner and IMMEDIATELY brought my bill. Didn’t ask if I wanted anything else if I was planning on dessert (which I was) just dropped the bill and left. I paid cash, ate my lackluster meal and left sans dessert. Any of these things alone I would’ve let go but all in all it was an unpleasant and bland experience in a half empty restaurant. Guess that should’ve...
Read moreAttended a private event, and fireclay epitomizes fine dining in every sense. We started the culinary journey with a welcome drink of champagne and their must-try Kingston Old Fashioned. The intimate and refined atmosphere, characterized by careful interior design, elegant table settings, and subtle lighting, truly elevated the entire dining experience.
My favorite dish of the night for me was the Cured Duck Margret, a charred artichoke hear with parmesan flake and truffle oil (absolute perfection!). This was followed by perfectly cooked prawns and prime ribeye, each dish expertly seasoned to perfection.
Throughout the evening, we were attentively taken care of by Mateo and Alem. Chef Gray personally enlightened us about the dishes, and Manager Bryon ensured our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.
A must spot in...
