I had been coming to Flor every Saturday to read, work, and spend time with friends while enjoying delicious food and drinks. I was sooo excited to have found a peaceful spot with good and productive vibes along with a curated selection of books to purchase.
The abrupt introduction of the no laptop policy on weekends and during core business hours every single weekday now makes it so I can no longer get any work done, causing me to unfortunately have to take my customership elsewhere.
One would think that a bookstore coffeehouse is meant for reading and other quiet work. I think it’s totally fine if people are talking and socializing since a cafe is a community gathering spot, but to limit one’s ability to work on their laptop is a little at odds with the library/bookstore atmosphere.

Read moreI really wanted to like this café, but my experience today left me completely turned off. I waited about 15 minutes in line and noticed the cashier warmly greeting and recommending items to every customer before me. When it was finally my turn, her entire demeanor shifted — no hello, no smile, no explanation of options even when I asked questions (it was my first time here). I ordered a matcha latte and had to pull information out of her just to figure out how I could get it sweetened.
The second I paid, she walked away without a thank you, and then I waited another 15–20 minutes for my drink. Meanwhile, I watched her continue treating every other customer after me (all white) with the same enthusiasm and friendliness she had completely withheld from me. As a Black woman, that contrast was hard to ignore even stranger because she was black.
By the time I got my drink and food, I no longer cared what it tasted like — the lack of basic courtesy and respect was enough for me to decide I won’t...
