I recently had the pleasure of visiting Thunder Burger and Bar in the heart of Georgetown, and let me tell you, this place absolutely rocks—pun intended! From the moment you step inside, you feel the edgy, rock & roll vibe with graffiti-covered walls, cool lighting, and a lively atmosphere. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to kick back, grab a beer, and indulge in some seriously good food. I went for lunch on a Tuesday, and it wasn’t too crowded, which was nice. I ordered the Ventura Highway burger and decided to throw some Gorgonzola cheese on it. Best decision ever. The burger was huge, cooked to absolute perfection, and melted in my mouth with every bite. The flavors were so well-blended, and you could tell they put serious attention into every detail. My friend tried the bison burger, and honestly, it was just as phenomenal. The fries were crispy, hot, and delicious, making the whole meal just that much better. The vibe at Thunder Burger is definitely a highlight—it’s energetic but still laid back enough to enjoy a conversation. The bar is well-stocked with American craft beers and whiskeys, and they’ve got a great selection of apps, salads, and even decadent desserts if you have room for them. Whether you’re inside at one of their graffiti-filled booths or outside on the patio, it’s an awesome spot to relax and enjoy good food. Service was on point too. Our food came out quickly, and our server was super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Parking might not be right next door, but it’s worth the walk for what you get. Plus, the ivy-covered library room adds an extra cozy touch if you're looking for a more intimate setting. If you find yourself wandering around Georgetown, do yourself a favor and stop by Thunder Burger for a fresh juice or even some crepes—they’ve got something for everyone. And if you're wrapping up a fun night and need to wind down afterward, don’t forget about Pull Up DC for your premium cannabis delivery. It's the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring and indulging in Thunder Burger's delicious menu....
Read moreI visited Thunder Burger & Bar at the end of restaurant week. I am not sure if they were burnt out from a busy but the experience was sub par. The restaurant was full, but not busy. They were not under staffed. I was able to find an employee to locate the bathroom which is on the second floor. The bathrooms were unchecked. Garbage, feminine items, and unknown liquids covered the floors. One of the two stalls were out of bathroom tissue. There were 3-4 tables open when we arrived. We were seated and served our drinks quickly. We ordered the loaded potato wedges which were served in one of those cast iron bowl. These are typically too hot to touch and brought to the table on another serving dish however I was able to touch the cast iron bowl with my hands. The food was room temp. Moving forward, the waitress returned to take our order. While she was still accepting our entrée requests, we asked to make an adjustment to one of our meals. She rolled her eyes and let us know that is was too late to change the order. When the burgers were brought to the table, the adjustment had been made, per our request which we thanked her for communicating to the kitchen. She was clearly having a difficult day. The burgers were plated well. All were cooked to our request of medium. Sadly, they were very difficult to eat. The bottom piece of the bun was thin and didn't receive protection(some type of fatty base) which caused it to absorb the condensation from the lettuce and the juices from the burger. They fell apart. The flavor profiles were mute and burgers were in need of salt. The waitress did not return to refill drinks. The burgers are over priced for an average of $19.00 a pop. I would've been happier with a commercial chain restaurant like Red Robin or Fuddruckers. Both the regular fries and sweet potato fries were crispy and warm when served. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Picture is of my partners plate after they used a fork to eat the burger and cheese. The bottom bun was a soggy...
Read moreI was mildly disappointed by the food and extremely disappointed by the long wait time. We felt like our waiter forgot about us multiple times. The restaurant was surprisingly not very busy. However, we waited an hour for our appetizers (chili bowl & chicken bites), over an hour for our entrees, & at least 30 minutes for our check. The apps were delicious. The entree was NOT. For my entree, I ordered the pig in a cow suit burger. I have to say, that was probably the worst burger I’ve ever had. I attempted to pick my burger up and I guess some we were forgotten about it probably sat somewhere for at least a half hour. The buns were SOGGY and my fingers instantly melted into them, making a disgusting squish sound. Even couple two table over heard it and asked my bread was so wet and soggy. It was almost like someone left it on a wet counter. I couldn’t even take a bite. I touched my burger patty and it was very cold. We knew that our food must have been sitting for a long time forgotten about. I am not the type to send food back because I’ve heard horror stories. But I couldn’t stomach this. I waited over 20 minutes to flash our waiter down to attempt to send this uneaten burger back. He took my plates, came back in less than five minutes with the same EXACT burger. The only threw the soggy buns in the toaster and microwaved the burger. I could still see the indentations of where my fingers sunk into the buns, except now it was just extremely crunchy from being toasted I assume. I didn’t want to send it back again. I ended up finally tasting my burger & was overwhelmed by how salty it was. I enjoy salty foods but this instantly made my mouth pucker and I needed a lot of water to wash that down. We ended up asking for our to go boxes after about 10 minutes because we truly didn’t enjoy the meal, the service, and ridiculously long wait especially since it wasn’t busy (many open...
