Gong Cha (DC 14th St) — Restaurant in Washington

DC was once a dry wasteland void of Asian bubble tea chain vendors. Taiwan is the mecca of ubiquitous bubble tea drinks, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out another Taiwanese chain (shouts to Sharetea!) opened up recently in DC. Naturally, every fiber of my being beckoned me to give it a try. Upon entering, you'll be welcomed by the belting tunes of popular K-pop music and long lines of customers waiting for their drinks. Like most bubble tea chains, Gong Cha offers an array of options from brewed teas, health conscious blended teas, milkteas, and creative mixes, all customizable to your liking with an assortment of topping choices. Definitely recommend the Purple Yam Milktea. Was yummy...or should I say...yammy. Other notable milktea mentions are the Taro and Matcha (my husband enjoys this one the most).

While Gong Cha is known for their signature milk foam series and is highly regarded as their best, I hope to give this a try sometime soon. However.... I am eyeing the Earl Grey 3JS with interest, as it's the ultimate trifecta of boba, grass jelly, and pudding. That's the beauty of milktea, all of the flavors seem alluring so there's always something new to try if it piques your curiosity.

My first time at Gong Cha was in New York City. Fell in love with their Lemon Wintermelon with Basil Seed drink and have been craving it since moving back to DC. Well to my surprise, a Gong Cha was opening right near my place, so you can imagine how excited I was to have this establishment within walking distance! Especially since DC is a city that lacks a good boba tea place, lots of opportunity to grow this business in DC as more and more people are becoming accustomed to the popular drink from Taiwan.

Gong Cha has a wide selection of teas, milk teas, slushies, and toppings. If you are one of those that likes the original boba (bubble) milk tea, this place has mastered it! Tea is amazing, I get it 70% sugar which is the right sweetness for me, and I always add both boba and pudding. So good! The boba is cooked perfectly and has a sweetness to it, just the way I like it. And it is always fresh, cause you know you can taste the difference with day-old boba!

Staff are really quick here and will help you decide on a drink if you need help.

Highly recommend coming here! I come at least once every week or two to get a drink, bad habit, but...

I’m disgusted in this places and the sight of what happened tonight made me sick to my stomach…came in here to pick up an order on 4/12/22 at a little around 8:05 pm.

Came in here to pick up an Uber delivery, when I approached the cashier the girl who was there she walked away and proceeded to do something else and left me standing around aimlessly…after a minute no one acknowledged me, the store was pretty quiet with only one other customer inside at the time.
