We recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Ocean Prime, and it was an experience we’ll cherish forever, thanks to the impeccable service of our waiter, Victor, and the outstanding food. From start to finish, Victor went above and beyond to make our evening extraordinary.

Victor started the celebration by surprising us with complimentary champagne, which set the tone for the evening perfectly. His warm and attentive demeanor made us feel truly special. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The standout dish for us was the Lobster Mac & Cheese—it was rich, flavorful, and the perfect indulgence for such a special occasion. Every dish we had was impeccably prepared and bursting with flavor, adding to the magic of the night.

OH MY! What a experience! After having a great conversation with Alexander the Dining Room Manager on the phone, he proceeded to provide us with what was simply put, the best restaurant experience my girlfriend and I have had. Without my asking, Alexander had uniquely decorated our table and provided multiple complimentary items to ensure a great start/finish to our romantic evening.

After Alexander greeted and welcomed us to their establishment so well we had the pleasure of being serviced by Ted who did a fabulous job doing a breakdown of the menu as well as getting us settled in for the ensuing experience. Ted's friendliness/ charm and customer service while we enjoyed what was a terrific meal made this restaurant stand out even further from plenty of other high end restaurants in the DC area.

Food enjoyed includes their prime roll sushi as a appetizer of sorts. The takeaway from this dish was that not only it was the best sushi we've had, but that it was the best you could make any item in any category of food... so basically we were at a loss for words. For entrees we both had their salmon dishes, king salmon and teriyaki salmon. The king salmon was perfectly balanced in its seasoning while the teriyaki salmon was as close to dessert as you can make it. The sauce was sweet and with the sticky rice it was a joy to have. Our chardonnay we ordered also was a perfect compliment to our dishes. The truffle fries were also something we thought to be better then most as the flavor was not overbearing and allowed us to fully enjoy them as our shared side. To finish everything off we enjoyed their warm butter cake with ice cream on top and 4 different berries accented across the plate. Having the different berries made it possible to enjoy 4 different desserts in 1 which I found to be extremely pleasing to mix and match. The butter cake was rich in flavor and moist in texture, a absolutely perfect combination with their ice cream from PA. Enjoying the butter cake with what remained of our chardonnay was the perfect way to cap off an amazing meal, experience, and romantic night as a couple.

If you're looking for a nice restaurant to provide you with an EXPERIENCE and not just a meal of expensive food in small portions, poor service staff with no personality, and a rushed busy feeling... then you've found the place. You will not find those things here.

On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, I had lunch at Ocean Prime in Washington DC, at the corner of 14th and G Streets, NW. On this particular day, the restaurant did not appear to be very busy so we were seated immediately. My lunch partner had also made a reservation.

The atmosphere was very nice and appealing. There is a large bar area. There is a regular dining room on one side of the restaurant. On the bar side, there are spacious booths that will easily seat four to six people near their spacious window area on the corner of the building.

Waitstaff appeared immediately and was very nice and friendly and helpful. Water selection was offered and bread was brought to the table. Fish and seafood are a large part of the menu and does have some sushi selections. They also serve a chicken dish or two, burgers and steak. My lunch partner ordered the Blackened Fish Sandwich. I ordered a steak special. The meals arrived in good time. My lunch partner has been to this restaurant several times and she enjoyed her fish sandwich. It did not look like any fish sandwich that I had ever seen. If there is a such thing as a gourmet fish sandwich, this was definitely it. My steak, medium well, was perfectly cooked. The steak was juicy and tender but not mushy. I am from Kansas City and I am a big beef eater. This was truly good beef with amazing flavor.

For dessert, I had Ten Layer Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting and a pineapple syrup garnish. My lunch partner ordered the Warm Butter Cake with fresh berries and raspberry sauce with a side of vanilla ice cream. She says that the Butter Cake is one of her favorites. My three favorite cakes are German Chocolate, Red Velvet and Carrot Cake. This carrot cake did not disappoint. This was one of the best that I have ever had and it was a generous portion.

The place is beautiful. The food was excellent. The waitstaff was top notch. This level of quality is not inexpensive but it was not outrageous. All I can say is that Ocean Prime is worth a try. It is a great lunch spot and should be a great dinner date place. I definitely recommend it and I would eat there again without hesitation.
