As someone with Mexican roots who is from Texas, I’ve been waiting for this spot to open for a few weeks now, so when I saw that it was open, I immediately jumped on the opportunity to order takeout. My order was done within 15-25 minutes. When I walked in for pick up, there wasn’t anyone at the entrance except for a family of customers who were already seated and dining. A few minutes after standing around, a young man came up and asked for my name and order. Shortly after, he delivered my order and I went on my way. For context, I ordered an asada taco, an asada sope, and a chicken sope. The second I opened the taco box, I was surprised to see a homemade tortilla (two to be exact). The portion of meat was on the smaller side and had a few fatty pieces, but overall tasted well marinated. My one complaint is that I wish they would’ve added more cilantro to the taco. It was sparse and affected the potential of the flavor. The sopes were similarly good, though they were unfortunately completely soggy by the time I got home. I wish they were a little thicker to be able to hold it while eating it. As they stand now they resemble a huarache more than a sope. I will note that I appreciate the pinto beans they add to the sope. They’re not refried beans, though, so don’t go in anticipating refried beans on your sope. Apart from the minimal details I mentioned, I’d recommend this place to anyone searching for a good, authentic Mexican food. By far, this is the best proper Mexican restaurant I’ve tried in the DMV. I echo everyone’s sentiments in the reviews regarding how DC has been needing a place like this one. Forget all the other establishments in the area, please make this spot your go-to if you want authenticity. They have a lot of group seating so bring your friends and...

Had a pretty bad experience here from food to a false charge. Went on a Saturday. The place was pretty empty. Got a steak quesadilla and partner got a chicken quesadilla. Was definitely not what I’m used to. Didn’t come with anything like guac or pico or sour cream just a big quesadilla on a plate. I stuck with it. Steak was very salty.

My bill ended up being 25 bucks but they took a really long time to give me my card back which prompted me to check my account. I had both a $25 charge and a $99 charge from this restaurant. When letting them know they insisted that there was no bill for $99 and one person even advised that I wait a couple days and see if it clears. After refusing, someone finally gave me a refund.

It may have been an honest mistake but something felt odd about it. Don’t see myself coming back here as the experience just gave me a headache and still...

I came here over two months ago and it was the worst dining experience of my life. Since there seems to be a bunch of false five star reviews with generic language, I’ll do my best to warn others not to trust these reviews and avoid this place.

The short version story of this is: Came in around 5:40, only table to be seated, no others present. By 7:50, i left still having eaten nothing!! Only reason I didn’t walk out was because my friend had ordered tacos. I tried ordering three different times whenever we managed to get the waitress to stop ignoring us and each time was unsuccessful because after a 20-min delay, the waitress would come back to say they didn’t have cheese or salsa or some other key basic Mexican ingredient (you can’t make this stuff up). Even getting the check was an ordeal.

Terrible, NIGHTMARE service. Save yourself the headache...

The food and drinks are amazing. As a Mexican and LA native, I didn’t think I’d find authentic Mexican food in DC. The pambaso (red torta) was better tasting than some that I’ve had in Mexico City. The asada torta was solid, but man that pambaso is to die for. Still thinking about it. For drinks we tried the Jamaica with mezcal, it was very refreshing, not too sweet, and perfect kick of mezcal at the end. Overall I’d say the food was great in quality and quantity for the price. The service was awesome , our waiter Francisco Javier is a little slice of heaven. Super conversational and friendly. Give that man a raise!

Came in to an empty restaurant, brought 10 women, the drinks were strong and lack flavor. The owner was flustered like he has never worked a big party. We had to ask for basic things like water and chips and salsa repeatedly before they were brought over. Then because some of the ladies food weren’t hot when brought to the table the waiter got upset and would not even hear the ladies out. Strike 1. The seafood was over cooked, mushy and old. Strike 2. We tell the waiter he takes the food, tells us to never come back. Oh but wait there’s more. We also inform them of the two roaches crawling up the wall.
