I still have not received a call from IHOP to change the policy to support our Veterans. They stated they would call me, and that never happened.
With that being said, as a veteran, I would not recommend IHOP on 14th Street, NW, in DC for a place that supports Veterans, fully on Veterans Day and on Memorial Day. This is my experience, and the two other veterans who came in after 7 pm or 1900 hours.
I sent a letter to IHOP to change the policy. Here is what I wrote and what I wanted to share with everyone. The waitress was amazing!!!
Subject: Feedback on Veterans Day Meal Policy
Dear IHOP Team,
I visited one of your locations on 14th Street, in Washington, DC. I went to IHOP on Veterans Day to enjoy the Red, White, and Blue pancakes. While I was there, I witnessed two veterans coming in at 7 PM and being informed by the waitress that they could not receive the complimentary Veterans Day meal because the system stopped processing at 7 PM. This was disheartening, as I believe veterans should be honored all day, especially on such an important occasion.
To ensure they were treated with the respect they deserved, I paid for their meals myself. However, I strongly urge IHOP to reconsider the policy that limits the free meal offering to only a specific time. It would be much more appropriate to extend the complimentary meal until midnight or until closing time on Veterans Day, allowing all veterans to be honored properly, regardless of when they visit.
I hope you will take this feedback into consideration and make adjustments for 2025 and beyond to better honor our veterans, in and out of uniform.
Thank you for your time and for all that you do.
Sincerely, Patrick

Read moreBy far the most uncomfortable and EXPENSIVE dining experiences for an IHOP...which is USUALLY relatively cheap, delicious and convenient, not at the Columbia Heights area of Washington DC. For starters, the restaurant was nearly empty (of patrons) and about two servers, a hostess and a male worker. After being seated about fifteen minutes passed before I was even acknowledged, no greeting or anything that I witnessed "others" recieving. Food took close to 18 minutes to be done and I got the coffee with, not before my entree arrived. My shortstack was borderline bland and not fluffy at all, my three scrambled eggs were fine, my crispy potatoes were more like lukewarm, unseasoned and hard, the syrup was stale and difficult to pour out and my coffee was almost hot. The atmosphere was quite unwelcoming and hostile at times, kinda felt the need to constantly look over my shoulder. I was never checked on or asked anything, not even for my check. I listened to the employees bad mouth customers and a former colleague throughout my entire meal. Lastly,, I belive that I was intentionally overcharged to compensate for the fact that they don't get much traffic nor decent tips: I was charged $5.69 for a cup of coffee!!!!!!!!! In total my bill was $38.58, for an ordinary shortstack, three scrambled eggs with avocado, side of crispy potatoes and a cup of coffee....an 11+ dollar difference from what I pay at my preferred IHOP in Arlington Virginia. All in all, it was a very expensive, tasteless and uncomfortable dinner for me, I'm certain that I was robbed of somewhere between $3 to $10.00 because no one's gonna pay for careless and disrespectful customer service. In the very near future I see this location going out of business or getting much...

I ordered at 3:10am via DoorDash. I got 2 blueberry pancakes, 2 slices of bacon, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. It was a little over $15. My food Arrived around 3:45am, which wasn’t bad. It was sooner than estimated delivery time, which I was happy about.
The packaging was great! They put the blueberry compost and the whip cream in bowls versus on the pancakes. The food container had layers! I hadn’t seen this before. They had the eggs, bacon, and hash browns at the bottom and then the pancakes ok what looks a plastic top. Then another top was over the pancakes!
While eating, quickly came to conclusion that the bacon wasn’t crispy enough for my liking. While they bagged syrup for my pancakes, they didn’t put any salt and pepper for my scrambled eggs or ketchup for my hash browns. My hash browns was shaped rectangularly and tasted decent without ketchup. I did end up adding some syrup but it wasn’t anything like having ketchup. My pancakes were delicious!!!! While there were blueberries in the pancakes, I think it was the blueberry compost that really make it outstanding! I tasted the whip cream but didn’t use it. It wasn’t very sweet. I honestly got full after eating the first pancake, but I couldn’t leave any evidence for my son, who was sleeping lol.
This take out/delivery experience was really good. I enjoyed the food. Besides not having some condiments, I had no complaints. Thanks IHOP for satisfying my late...
