I was in town for a quick trip and wanted to have Mexican food with my family. This place was highly rated on here so we rolled the dice. Well, we crapped out. My Mexican food standard is based on eating Mexican in the southeast US. Los Caballeros was terrible.
We ordered an appetizer of the cheese dip for $10. They literally brought us a half-cup of melted Velveeta and Rotel. A half-cup. Let that sink in. It was tiny! I love Velveeta and Rotel, but I can have a crockpot full at home for $10.
Our party had fajitas, chimichangas, nachos, and a chicken kids meal. The kids menu is tiny and far overpriced. The steak in the fajitas was super salty, tough, and over cooked. The chicken on my nachos and the kids meal was overcooked to the point of being rubber. Our total bill with 4 meals (3 adults + 1 kid) with tip was $110! I about fainted considering how bad the food was and no alcohol was ordered.
The waitress was very attentive and pleasant.
I'm not sure how the restaurant received so many 5 star reviews, but those had to be bought and paid for. This was the worst Mexican food I've ever had.
UPDATE Unfortunately, I can't let the owners lies stand and need to respond so others know who they are dealing with.
If his idea of "took care of us" means to walk by our table, say "Happy Mother's Day" to my wife, and then sit in the corner and play on his phone; then Yes, he totally took care of us. That is the only interaction he had with my family. A real rockstar he is.
To his quip about cleaning our plates: my wife left 50% of her fajitas after eating none of the veggies and sharing some of the steak with one of our children (too salty and steak was tough), one child left 50% of his chimicanga plate after eating none of the sides, and lastly my two small children ate none of their chicken childrens meal (chicken was overcooked rubber) and none of the steak given to them by my wife. I ate most of my nacho plate and left a half-dozen or so chips. I will say their refried beans were very good. Instead of using the cheese dip on their nachos, they melt shredded cheese.
My review is honest and I wasn't paid anything for it. I understand he wants to make his business look good, which is why he attacks honest reviews; but, the solution is to serve better food with better prices. The service was excellent, which is why I gave that...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant based on the 4.9 star reviews. We eat Tex-Mex on a regular basis since we are from the State that is known for Tex-Mex cuisine. Let me start by saying that we all ordered waters, one had a hair in the glass and the other had something floating in it beneath the ice. We asked if we could get new waters and then I watched the waitress take it to someone (assuming it was the manager) and they inspected it and then the bartender inspected it as well. We were brought new waters. No one came over and said anything to us about it. A simple, I am so sorry, let me get you a new one goes a long way with the customer. The queso was almost $10 for maybe a cup of velveeta and rotel. Who doesn’t like queso, right? Skip this one. We barely touched it because it just wasn’t good. The food was mediocre and definitely not worthy of 4.9 stars. The side of guacamole that came out on the plate was brown on all 4 plates. Never have I ever been to a Tex-Mex restaurant that served us brown tinted guacamole (I understand that it will do that but not immediately). How does the person plating the food or the person bringing the food even let that go out to the table? None of us cleared our plates even the teenagers who eat just about anything, it just is not what Tex Mex should be. The service left a lot to be desired as well. There was only 1 other table in there but the waitress did not come back to check on us until we were ready to leave. At that point, why ask if we need anything else? Our drinks were already done long before and no one asked if we needed refills. The manager (or I’m assuming he was) came over at the end to ask if everything was okay. What are we going to tell you? No? You’ll claim that we should’ve said something earlier but we did with the waters and watched how you all had reacted to that. Based off that response and being hungry, we decided to make the best of it and eat...
Read moreFully Loaded Nachos That Deserve a Standing Ovation!
Let me just start by saying — if you're anywhere near Los Caballeros and you don't try the fully loaded steak and chicken homemade nachos, you're doing your taste buds a disservice.
From the moment I walked in, the vibe was on point. Warm welcomes, genuine smiles, and a staff that actually loves being there which, let’s be real, makes the food taste even better.
Now on to the main event: those nachos. 😮💨
We're talking about a mountain (yes, MOUNTAIN) of freshly fried tortilla chips, golden and crispy on the edges, but still somehow soft enough to soak up every glorious drop of flavor. These weren’t your typical bagged nachos. No sir. These were handcrafted with love and it shows.
I got the chicken and steak combo. The steak and chicken were juicy, smoky, and perfectly seasoned. The steak had that slightly charred edge and melt-in-your-mouth center, while the chicken was tender and had just enough kick to make things interesting. And the amount? Generous doesn’t even cover it they loaded these nachos like they were feeding a small army.
Next layer: cheese galore. I’m talking real, melty, gooey cheese, not that fake stuff. It clung to every chip like it had a mission. Then came the fresh pico, creamy guac, cool sour cream, & jalapeños.
It was spicy, creamy, tangy, savory — every bite was a flavor explosion. I kept saying “okay, one more chip” until I realized the tray was empty and I was already low-key mourning it.
I also got the delicious frozen strawberry margarita…I should’ve ordered 6 more,lol.
And huge shoutout to the staff: fast, friendly, fun, and always checking in to make sure everything was perfecto. You could feel the good energy — it was like dining with old friends.
Final Verdict: 10/10. If you're craving comfort food with a bold Tex-Mex twist and a crew that treats you like familia, Los Caballeros is the spot… And whatever you...
