This was my first time hearing of and going to South Block on M St., NW - West End. I’d passed by it a few times when I have been an area, but never had time to stop in until today.
I was in the mood for a healthy smoothie. South Block has it all, including bowls and juices. I’m trying to keep an eye and not consume too much sugar, so I opted for the Health Nut smoothie, which I customized. I self-ordered at the kiosk, which is convenient, but a tad overwhelming, if you’re in a rush, as there are a lot of options. I would have liked to make my own smoothie and wasn’t sure if that was an option, because I was in a hurry. In any event, I selected one of their protein smoothies, substituting the unsweetened almond milk for coconut water and added some blue magic and spirulina.
Once you get into add-ons, the smoothie ventures into Erewhon territory in terms of cost.
It was a good smoothie, definitely filling and didn’t take too long to make. I’d give it a 7 out of 10.
What I liked most about South Block was the atmosphere! The murals and positive messages in the morning just gave me a nice much needed boost to start the day.
If you’re in the mood for a smoothie, bowl or juice and positive vibe, give South Block on M St., NW in West End a try. They also have a selection of avo toasts...
Read moreVery disappointed that the nutritional information was not available. There is nothing on the website to outline the nutrition facts and the store does not post anything internally. Unfortunately, employees are not educated to provide the nutritional information either. Around 0900am the employees are very busy with online orders and balancing walk in orders. While the employees are friendly and polite, they are so consumed in their work that the atmosphere is unwelcoming and makes first time customers feel uneasy. I will not return. Parking is impossible for this location and highly advise walking to the place if you are...
