So normally I love trappers. Especially the buffet. Food is really good but for the past two times my husband and I were skipped or a mistake was made when we went for the buffet. Today was the worst as we got there, there were plenty of seats at first. We were first in line. We were told they had to prepare for a spot to seat us but they'd get back to us in a few minutes and we're told to wait by the blue stools. They didn't take our names though. They walked off without writing them down. This was around 1830 (0630pm) 6groups of people came in after us and 5min after they took care of all the groups they came up to us and said, "Maddie?" My name is not Maddie and I politely inform the waitress my name is Jade. She is surprised and immediately realizes she made a mistake and forgot to ask our names so she left for couple minutes and got back to us at 1853 (0653pm) to write down our names and get to us soon. They told us it would be a 20-25min wait. Well 30min go by and there are still no seats and the 6 groups that came in after us have all been seated (most of them for buffet style) as well as three more groups that came in after that and were seated as well before that but they were for the dining area. The waitress came up to us finally and offered us to sit at the bar as it was happy hour and the thing is I can't drink, Im driving, and my husband and I don't really go out to drink much. She then told us that right now appetizers were half off and that we could do the dining experience, I've done the dining experience before and that is too expensive to be honest. My husband has a big appetite and I also have a decent one and last time we accepted the fact that we had waited for over an hour and we're hungry we did the dining experience as we were given the same reason, it was happy hour, and half price on appetizers. We spent over $100 though on food which yeah not very ideal which is why we'd prefer the buffet. Which is why we wanted the buffet, which is why we requested it and waited for it. We don't like nor want the expensive dining experience when the dishes don't normally fill us up and end up ordering 2-3 plates each and an appetizer which puts a major dent in our wallet as we want a nice $50 experience not a $100-$150. Then after all that we get told that we should come in earlier around lunch in order to be able to enjoy the buffet. Sure yeah however, it's not easy since I'm normally working at that time and can't normally show up until it's time for a dinner service and then still get told that maybe try showing up early around 1500 (03pm). I'm not showing up 3hrs early for food I want for dinner. I can't in good heart come back to trappers cause this is ridiculous. Two times this has happened and I can't do it again. I'm sorry but judging by how many customers you get you'll do...
Read moreWe recently came here for the all you can eat and it was great, I would not suggest coming here for anything besides that. The all you can eat is only available at the sushi bar which is fine. It's very very very very loud in restaurant so you kind of have to yell at the chef making your sushi order which is kind of unpleasant. Overall the food is great, genuinely I'm able to get my sushi fill for the week without killing my wallet. I will say the only downside of this restaurant and how they do things is for some reason the all you can eat sushi chefs are also the chef's preparing the orders for the rest of the restaurant, so they are constantly, relentlessly being bombarded with orders and also having to deal four to five people sitting at the bar taking the all you can eat orders. During our visit here our poor chef, who even though was doing a very good job, looked very overwhelmed. Every 5 minutes a server would walk up asking where an order was, or asking about a modification to a table order as the little ticket machine continues spewing out 10+ orders, including to-go. I think it's kind of silly that they have an entire back part of the restaurant that seems to only be used for doing the dishes and storage. It would make a lot more sense if they had people in the back preparing orders for the tables/to-go and having the chefs in the front, specifically catering to the all you can eat. I think that way it would cause everybody a lot less stress. That is my only complaint about this place though, it has been great so far, just couple of things management could do to help...
Read moreI used to consider Trappers sushi in Silverdale, WA my go-to sushi restaurant.
On June 9 2023, I ordered my usual gluten-free rolls, having never had an issue in the past. I always use my own gluten free soy sauce, add the extra prep cost when available/required. Sometimes the option doesn't always populate in the app. Regardless, the rolls were named the gluten free version.
They arrived (delivery) as expected. The soy wrapper, the different rice they use for gluten free. I was a few pieces into the roll, eating while watching a movie, when I feel a crunch and find battered/panko covered shrimp in the roll.
I decide to keep calm and call the restaurant and ask if it was a simple mistake. I was informed that it was a "new type of gluten free breading" by the person on the phone.
Well, I figured I'd wait it out and see. But decided to not eat any more of the order I had. I hoped they were telling the truth and it wouldn't be too severe of a reaction.
It's been 3 weeks, I missed a week of work, had to go to urgent care, get new medications, and have been dealing with the typical results of a moderate to severe gluten intolerance reaction. I'm still dealing with some mild pain whenever I eat even now, and will take some more time to heal.
I'm relatively non-confrontational, but I want to make sure anyone else with celiac disease or a severe allergy don't wind up with the same result or worse.
My partner and I have ordered from them frequently for years, but now they're just another restaurant that I cannot trust to not...
