There is only one place that I have gotten a better Bagel, which was at David's in East Village, Manhattan. Since it is not practical to drive to the city just to buy a dozen bagels on a Sunday morning, I had to find somewhere else to get my bagel fix. I have tried multiple places in town, and I won't knock some of their competitors, but I will say this: Anybody can make a decent bagel. In fact, it is difficult to make a bad bagel. But to make great bagels, is an art! And Ami's is Bagel Art! A crunchy exterior that resonates in your ears like a toasted symphony gives way to a soft, chewy, almost fluffy interior. And their in house cream cheese?! Infused with a little something extra to drive your bagel experience home!.. I go with the scallion or veggie cream cheese myself but to each is own... Life is made rich by enjoying the simple pleasures and Ami's takes something as simple as Bagel and makes it a truly pleasurable experience!I wish I could give the 10 stars cuz they deserve it! Get there early for variety! Like anything this good,...
Read moreI've never had an issue with the employees (inclined to say I've had both owners assist me). The bagels are great, like others have said, they're no NY bagels (and I'm a native New Yorker), but so far they're the best bagels I've had since moving out here. I would love to give it five stars BUT as another reviewer has said, they are not sanitary when it comes to handling your food and money. No gloves are worn and unless they've just washed their hands before you've entered, then handle your food followed by the money, dirty hands are cutting and wrapping your bagels. I believe in "building your immune system" as much as the next guy, but when it's a cash only place, and they're down to the last few bagels by the time I arrive, I can only imagine about the cross contamination. If they invest in gloves, I'll be more than...
Read moreThese bagels ARE TO DIE FOR. I went in for my first time today and did not know this is a cash only place! When I presented my card the woman politely asked if I had cash, which I did not. She didn’t bat and eye and said “no problem, next time is $2.99”…I insisted on going to the atm but they waved me off! No big deal! She even gave me a few bagels to take home to the family. What a wonderful little business with such kind hearted owners!! My family DEVOURED these bagels! Best around!!!
I will be returning as their kind business practices and delicious food are exactly the type of people I want to support here in town.
Bottom line. Fire bagels, old school shop feel. Great ownership. Support and protect...
