China One — Restaurant in Waterbury

I usually never write reviews but I just have to. Let me start off by saying that if I want to order Chinese 99.9% of the time this is where I order from. My orders are always over $20 & I always tip. I never had a “bad” experience except for longer than usual delivery times but this last time & LAST TIME ordering from them has sent me over board!

I placed a order for myself and my family as usual. I ordered via their website w/ my card cause the last time I tried over the phone the girl didn’t know what was being said (not the 1st time ordering online either) ...food took OVER a hour & 1/2 to get to my home even tho they’re only 5/7 mins away. I didn’t complain tho cause it was a Fri night and figured a lot of ppl were ordering. Order arrived cold & blah ; egg rolls weren’t even cooked all the way & the fried rice was horrible. I took it as a loss cause complaining to these ppl is pointless & doesn’t get you anywhere. Then this happened...I go run out to ShopRite on Saturday to get some things & my card gets declined...3x...I check my activity....MY CARD WAS WIPED CLEAN WITH MULTIPLE PURCHASES! Never has this happened to me & didn’t happen until AFTER I ordered from them! I didn’t loose my card, still in my possession so they rigged my card info somehow and made it useable. They must of closed shop, headed up to the casino & decided to have a nice time on my dime! SMH Never again will I EVER order from here & if you choose to NEVER give your card information ; they will steal it & take everything you have! There’s other Chinese restaurants in Waterbury of course that won’t deliver to my side of town but because of this I’d rather pickup & not have someone steal my information & my money! BEWARE OF THESE...

they don't give fortune cookies unless you ask prior to your order. Had to leave a review cuz there's tons of Chinese in this town and I always forget which is which. This is the one with the best lo mein and fried rice. They actually throw some real veggies in for real flavor, and it is actually fried (not simply colored yellow and steamed like a few other places around town).yummmm.... however, this place is also the one with the not-so-good general tso or honey chicken....the general tso has a really thick gummy sweet sauce, not spicy at all....maybe you're into that though. The honey chicken is not lightly battered like the general tso, it is actually dipped in batter like sweet and sour chicken and basically a fried dough chicken nugget tossed in honey.it's still tasty but I would suggest you just get the chicken from the mall food court which is a 2 minute drive down the street.... it's really not out of the way lolol the mall rice and noodles suck but their chicken is absolutely on point. The egg rolls are kinda weirdly bland and chewy here, no matter how fresh you get them. But all of it is edible so if that's how you like them, enjoy! Sometimes the chicken here is stringy. Still, it's chinese food, who cares. the crab Rangoon are plain triangle shapes here too..maybe you're into that.i like them better when they are folded into flowers or other shapes but it's still delicious so whatever. The point here is this:ABSOLUTELY GET THE FRIED...

I ordered an order of fried dumplings for the 1st time from them today. They were DELICIOUS. So about an hour or 2 later, I called to order 3 more orders of fried dumplings! Told the guy who took my order, I hadn’t realized they’d be so good I just had to order more lol. He said he saw my earlier order.

I’m at work so when it got here, I didn’t open the bag right away. When I did, I noticed there were 3 orders of fried WONTONS instead. I called to get it fixed. Man said he would fix it but needed to find out how the order got screwed up. After listening to the recorded order I made over the phone, he informed me that I had said WONTONS and not DUMPLINGS. Ok, my honest mistake. I swore in my mind the word DUMPLINGS was coming out. However, I told the man I was currently speaking to that if the man who saw my earlier order as I was ordering for the 2nd time in the same day, why didn’t he help correct me? It was my honest mistake but I mean damn. What was I to do with Fried Wontons that I wasn’t going to eat when there were starving people in the world? He wouldn’t even apply what I paid for the wontons to the new order I was going to make for the right order. It’s December 22nd. Xmas is 3 days away. So that’s less money at the wrong time of year. I would have raved about this place to anyone who asked about a great Chinese place in Waterbury as we’ll have been a constant repeat customer but the insensitive customer service...
