ā”ļø First Impressions: My visit to El Rey Del Pollo Asado in Waukegan, IL, was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant has a cozy setup, and even though it's a small place, it was bustling with activity.
ā”ļø Order Highlights: I went with the classic Chicken Tacos (only $6.50 for two!). Each taco was well-seasoned with onions and cilantro, and the grilled chicken was flavorful and tender. The accompanying sauces were a perfect complement, adding just the right amount of kick.
ā”ļø Taco Taste: The tacos were fresh, juicy, and packed with flavor. Though the portion size was modest, each bite was satisfying, especially considering the price. These tacos offer an authentic taste without breaking the bank.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe chicken in this restaurant is definitely a good one. I have already been here before, and I just came back since I am near it, and just like the last time I went here, the food was still as good as before. I ordered the same thing I had the last time I went here, and it was delicious and definitely worth the wait. I ordered their combo, specifically their two-piece chicken combo. I went here for lunch, and the restaurant was so busy inside and on the drive through. It was more convenient for me to use the drive thru rather than order inside, which has the same long lines as the drive thru. I was just really glad that the lines were moving pretty quickly and I waited a really long time to order and for the food. I think waiting is worth it because if I did not wait, I would not be able to eat their delicious food. The two pieces of chicken were really huge, like each had a huge portion. It was cooked perfectly. It was tender and the flavor just literally melted in my mouth. I definitely love their chicken. It was flavorful. It was not the best one Iāve ever had, but it is definitely the one that I can always remember. I highly recommend this spot. Their chicken is the best, and the prices...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe picture explains itself . Please avoid eating here by ANY MEANS. I came through the drive through here interested in buying 2 steak torta sandwiches for dinner . I was told I had to get sides because without it would be paying for a meal still . That makes ZERO sense . This is what I was offered. I also wasnāt notified that these were the only sides they had available. Seriously who goes to a Mexican restaurant for macaroni and mashed potatoes???? Not to mention the food was absolutely disgusting , mashed potatoes were thick like 3 day old oatmeal , macaroni? HAHA taste like sewer water and government cheese . I wouldnāt feed a wild animal this plate . $20 down the drain . Chips and salsa / guacamole would have been a better substitution for a side . But Iām sure because I didnāt speak Spanish and I am African American I must love macaroni and potatoes right ? A literal joke . Donāt waste your time or money and IM BEGGING YOU go...
