The people are friendly but I must of caught them on a bad night. I went into this establishment around five pm on a Tuesday. I ordered a pound of crawfish, the Tuesday special which is a two piece fried catfish with fries and hush puppies and a small gumbo. I spent around $34 for this and had high expectations because they advertise themselves as real Louisiana cooking so I expect flavor and food cooked hot and fresh. First off, the fish had good seasoning but the edges of the fish were fried too hard. This is because of the size of the fillets and taking longer to cook. It was almost like eating cracklings. I also will say I expected two whole fillets but they cut one large one in half . They were still a nice size so I won’t count off to many points for that. The fries were good and tarter sauce could use a little more flavor. Now for the crawfish. I was excited because I could see the seasoning on it. But…. There had to be little to no seasoning in the boil. The crawfish seems to be seasoned on the the outside for appearance purposes. The crawfish were cold and keep in mind I live less than five minutes away and made sure I didn’t waste any time. Now I’m the kind of person that not only eats the meat out of the tail, but I like to crack the head and suck the juice out. I was sucking nothing but air! I kept trying to eat more to find maybe a few with juice but none were found. The meat almost had a texture like rubber . 7.99 lb for that! I won’t ! I expected so much more! The only thing I would say was a hit was the gumbo!! That was banging. I guess I’ll have to continue to get my quick fixes for crawfish a Tajun Seafood in Red Oak! At least it’s cooked fresh and you definitely gonna need a bib for the juice. They definitely need to change cooks or something! They have so much...
Read moreWasn’t satisfied at all! I spent approx $95 after the cash discount. We ordered: Red beans (2 out if 10): no flavor at all, very dry and the bowl had more rice than beans! The white rice was decent.
Cat fish nuggets (1 out 10): This definitely wasn’t catfish. Maybe swai? I cook a lot of catfish and have never tasted any like this! Or seen any this big! The breading wasn’t even good.
Bowl of gumbo (7/10): This was the best thing in the entire order although it could’ve had more sausage meat but there were a good amount of shrimp.
Lump crab cake (1/10): First off this way over priced for the size of the ball. The breading tastes like cardboard. No flavor in the breading. I couldn’t get past the outter to enjoy the center that also didn’t have flavor.
Banana pudding (6.5/10): We enjoyed it.
Daiquiris were very sweet but it’s to be expected.
Overall, I really had hope based on the reviews but won’t be trying again. Priced way too high for the quality with no taste. We threw away everything except the gumbo...
Read moreCame for lunch but had not realized it was a take out only spot. No problem, we did just that. The food was good overall. We both got catfish, I added shrimp. For sides we chose red beans and gumbo. We ordered daiquiris and asked they be poured when the food was ready. We ordered a peach cobbler. While waiting we noticed the cobbler was dated 7 days earlier. No thank you! We were gladly issued a refund. We also noticed the brownies were from the end of March. Hummm. IMO, and expertise of 20+ years in the food industry, these dates are way too long to be serving to people. Anyways our daiquiris were melted because they were poured at least 10 minutes before our food came out. The food tasted really good but I couldn't help but wonder how long ago the gumbo and beans were possibly prepared. I especially look for Black Owned Business to support so I'm sure we'll visit again. The 'real' catfish was seasoned and...
