Staff was nice but not observant or communicative. Room fit theme but was allotted too many players, some puzzles were lazy/random, requiring host to offer way too many hints without a system to just request them when needed.
Did the Mario room with 3 friends. A large group of people that had already checked in remained standing at the desk rather than moving, or being asked to move, to the waiting area. Not knowing this, when we arrived, we “stood in line” behind them for 5-10 minutes while the people at the desk not only saw us, but one walked by us multiple times, and never said a word. When we finally figured out what was happening and made it around the large party, we discovered the person at the computer never acknowledged us because she was playing solitaire. After finally checking in, we went to the waiting area and met the other 6 people doing our room with us. Someone finally came to get our group 10 minutes after the room should have started, without a word about running late. As for the room, it fit the theme very well, both in puzzles and in decoration/story. However, some of the puzzles seemed lazy/random, to the point where the staff member, through the cameras and speaker system, was volunteering hints every few minutes. Some were telling us to do things we had already done, and others because at several points there was only one puzzle to solve and 10 people to do it. I understand that sometimes, when there are multiple chambers, a large group can be beneficial. However, this room, or set of rooms, is at most a 6-person setup, and that is pushing it. My friends and I have done escape rooms of every level, across half the country, and while this was not one of the worst ones we have done, it is also not one of the best. It is perfectly average in all respects, room and staff, and hopefully will get better as they haven’t been open for long. The fact that they are still new is what pushed this from 3 stars to 4, as I am giving them the benefit of the doubt on where this place can go. They have many different rooms lined up for production, and hopefully with time and experience this facility can get on the same level as their competition. I hope they do, as it would be great to have an escape facility so close for when friends and...

Our family has recently taken up doing escape rooms quite often; we have done over 30 at this point. With this, we have high expectations for escape rooms and are often disappointed with certain clues, lack of immersion, difficulty, etc. We were originally worried that The Great Escape would not live up to our expectations due to the information on their website as well as the reviews we saw. However, we decided to give it a try and had a fantastic time. The new owners are very passionate about escape rooms and are working hard to improve the experience of the rooms for their customers. We did three rooms today (Mario, 90's Party, and Avalanche) and were pleasantly surprised by them. The first two rooms were on the easier side and would be great for casual guests while Avalanche was great for the more experienced. All of the rooms had stories, multiple rooms, good immersion, and every clue made sense. The owners asked us our opinions about the rooms, took time for suggestions, and worked us in for extra rooms. The clue masters were attentive to our requests for hints and good at not giving too much away. There is a chance at the end to take pics with props-without a fee that some other places will charge. While the rooms were not perfect, the new owners are looking at every detail to improve the rooms and experience for their guests. We had a great time and are super excited to come back soon! This is a super fun place I would definitely recommend...
Read moreWorse customer service ever from the owner. I booked an escape room for 230. I got to the eacape room at 2:22 and the other teams were already 3 minutes into the escape room. When I arrived owner said I was late but let me hurry and get you guys inside. I was like okay whatever it is only 3 minutes.
We went into the escape room and by the time we got to the third room we still had over 25 minutes left. We still had over 5 different locks to open and a few puzzles to complete, when the door popped open and she said that we were finished.
Everyone was confused because we knew that we had not finished the escape room. The staff were moving around saying they were not sure what happened. One staff member let it slip that the door was not secure so it ended up opening too early.
The owner shared that there is no refund policy even though it was their fault that we were not able to finish the game. Owner offered us to do another room on her but at the time it was time for us to go because we had other plans and we live in Houston, so we will not be able to do it at another time.
It appeared that she was so busy because she was getting people in and out and didn't really care that our game ended over 25 minutes early.
I have done over 40 escape rooms and was NEVER treated badly. Need to have a better policy when they mess up. We recommend going to...
