Disappointment defined.
This is the final time I visit this establishment. To offer a quick description the detailed sanitation does not happen even out on the dining floor. I can only imagine how bad it is where the customers do not go. The staff is MIA when you need them. This means dishes pile up, drinks are not maintained, and if you need something you forgot good luck you'll probably be at the end of your meal by the time you see your server again. Alcoholic beverages are extremely limited in variety, and usually come in a dirty glass. Dirty bar glasses have been a consistent issue each time I tried coming back. It's gross. Here is a tip for the regular person. If your glass smells like wet dog it's not clean. Now if the food was amazing these issues could be worked around (like only ordering bottle beverages and giving your server a list of needs up front instead of as they normally flow) however the food is just the epitome of subpar.
The street tacos beans and rice were so dried out when I got them the corn tortillas could crack in places and the beans also possessed that very obvious been out overnight dryness. The rice was this way as well. The salsa had no flavor at all it was like watery tomato juice as my partner told me. The green salsa that came with my meal also had a dry crusty layer on top. The beef was dried out for the street tacos and the ground beef for the nacho was not seasoned at all... Nor was it seasoned for the chimichanga we also ordered.
Dry flavorless food, unclean environment, MIA staff(also not a good sign when your server is in filthy clothes. Maintaining a sanitary attire during duties is a hallmark of a professional), and limited bar beverage selection served in dirty glasses.
This is the last time for us. It was a horrible disappointment again.
Note to Management Representatives: I see you are very responsive to your online reviews and I commend you for that. I actually provided an additional star just for the wonderful customer service you provided to all these other guests on here. This situation for us however cannot be solved with a phone call, refund, or a visit. The work must be done in house for the benefit of future guests and unfortunately that will not include us. Best of luck in all of your...
Read moreCan't express how DISAPPOINTED I AM. Today is my birthday and I chose to eat at one of my all-time favorite places. Service was slow but efficient. The food was excellent as always. We actually had a late lunch during Happy hour. I ordered 2 specialty margaritas (during Happy hour) at this point I'm going to say I do not and have not gone to a restaurant in quite sometime probably around a year year and a half. Its just not cost effective in today's ungodly prices but again today is my birthday so I chose El Fenix. Beside a the slow service (was really going to chalk that up to an off day but) when we got the check and I saw the margaritas were not happy hour prices I was a little surprised and asked for a manager so I asked her do you make it clear to your patrons what drinks are happy hour and which ones aren't? She said the waitress should have let me know. She the waitress did not. then I proceeded to tell her I would have never ordered what I did had I known it wasn't on Happy hour and honestly I've never a day in my life heard of restaurants putting some drinks on happy hour but not all drinks. To my surprise she did not even offer to take one of my drinks off my check. I will not be back to this location. I will definitely go to Dallas where the service speaks for itself. Oh and on the way out got a look at the return air vents and they are absolutely filthy. Be mindful of where you sit I would hate for a big old ball of dust to fall in your food. Just gross to say the least. I've worked in the restaurant business several times over my fifty six years and all of this is totally...
Read moreThe one in Waxahachie 75165 We only eat there if Marco is there, we sit in the bar area. Marco is one of a kind! My daughter and son-in-law Glen and Jenna Bradshaw took me there 1 or 2 times. We sat down & Marco makes eye contact with Glen he nods like, ok I got you & Glen nods back. He started bringing our drinks, chips hot sauce, the queso with beef, avocado, sour cream. A hot thick flavored appetizer, and it's a big soup bowl... Marco ask Glen, the usual on drinks, meaning, the alcohol drinks! Glen nods yes, it's for my daughter, Glen doesn't drink & I don't anymore. He already brought out tea, water, ECT. The drinks are special by what all he can remember!!! He brings the drink back, Glen gives it to Jenna, she tasted if it, thumbs up! He knows I like onions a taco, my enchilada w)cheese queso & extra onions on my plate. Know you take Marco, he can remember all our likes/dislikes down to onions! Now multiply that with about 50 people a day? Great mind.... I've been so ready for Tex Mex food, get there, no Marco? Glen opens the door to leave. Yes then ask what do y'all want to eat now. Anyway, Marco is friendly, professional, and the mind of an elephant! He knows if you like top shelf, or extra strong to a ligh weight on your liquor! Ok People, you either like or dislike EF! Those that like it, give Marco a try! He's the waiter you definitely wanna leave a good tip for! If the bar area is full he will seat you right out of the bar area and make his magic happen!!! Remember the elephant I mentioned? Marco has those same horns, You'll See... Enjoy... Sherrie...
