So I needed to stop at the service station next door, and as I was going in a lady walked out in a kind of retro outfit, giving off a Rosie the Rivoter vibe. I asked the clerk and she said the lady ran the barbecue trailer in the corner of the lot. I decided to give it a try. Got pulled pork with mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was southern style, however it did not have the usual cheeses prevalent in southern style. The taste was prominently parmesan with an undertone I can't quite put my finger on, and lightly peppered. It was actually really good by itself. The pulled pork I'm used to tends to be brined with a rub, typically rested before pulled, and then slathered in sauce, resulting in a very wet, moist pulled pork with a lot of seasonings. Judging by the texture and flavor, if LaurieCue brines the pork, it tastes like it's very lightly. I couldn't really detect any seasoning either. What I did enjoy, though, was tender pulled pork that relied pretty much on the flavor the meat naturally has enhanced by the smoking process. I opted for the sweet sauce to go with it. The sauce didn't taste like your typical modified store brand, and certainly was not over powering with the sweetness typical of sweet sauces. The portion provided was just enough to add to the flavor of the pork without taking it over. Yes, it was not as moist as I prefer, but it was still a very enjoyable dining experience. Especially so when paired with that lovely mac and cheese. Prices and portions are fair, and the staff is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were craving BBQ and hit up Google to see what we could find and stubled upon this absolute GEM! It was about an hour to close so Unfortunately we couldn't try everything but we will definitely be back to do so! The gentleman working was super friendly and served us up some pretty heaping portions within a few minutes. My husband and I both tried the pulled pork and brisket with Mac and cheese. Hubby also got a side of beans which he said were very good. The Mac and cheese was TO DIE FOR! their menu states it's a 6 cheese recipe and it is definitely over the top delicious. The pulled pork had amazing flavor all by it's self but I did try the sweet sauce as well, wasn't for me personally, but was certainly original and tasty. The brisket had phenomenal flavor with an excellent crust and that melt in your mouth bit of fat you expect in a good brisket. Topped off with a nice moist slice of cornbread. Cannot wait to go back and hopefully try the Cole slaw next time. Definitely an awesome little stop for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI first went to Laurie Cue in 2017 when the truck was located next to Marker 48 and had a different name. I got the double deuce with pork and brisket. It was so big I took half home. Jump to the present same great food, different location. We got several times a month. Iāve had everything on the menu and enjoyed the food. The service is over and above what you receive in other restaurants. I feel like extended family when Iām there. The green beans are to die for! I husband has even tried replicating them at home when we just canāt get there. The Petey (my absolute favorite)and Milkee sauces are my go to sauces but my husband loves the OG sauce. His favorite sandwich is the PigPen. The name alone tells you itās over the top. Every year we provide lunch to our doctorās office staff. This year they requested Laurie Cue all meats platter. They said everything was delicious but their favorite was the brisket because it...
