Bambu — Restaurant in West Allis

I absolutely love this place and have been coming here for years. For anyone who feels adventurous about trying a new, authentic Asian drink, this is my recommendation. Drinks from Thailand, Japan, China, India and more! The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and happy to give their personal preferences and suggestions.

My personal favorite is the Chai Milk Tea with Almond Milk. Whether with milk or a milk substitute, this tea blend is so rich and smooth with an almost hot chocolate flavor served cold. The flavor is like a mix of vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon with something else I can never quite put my finger on.

Their sweets are wonderful too! They always have a wide selection of macarons (so be sure to get there early before they run out!) But my favorite is the Pandan Waffle. Made fresh to order, this green waffle is gluten free and has a delightful chew to it. It feels almost like a firm marshmallow. And the flavor is so unique! The Pandan plant is from Southeast Asia and is said to be the Asian equivalent of vanilla.

One of the best perks about coming back frequently is that you can sign up for their points program and get great upgrades to your order! Earn a regular drink to a large upgrade, earn a free drink, etc.! Sit and enjoy your drink in their vibrant...

I had high hopes for this boba shop, but unfortunately, my experience fell short. Upon entering, the staff didn't seem particularly welcoming—especially the young lady at the front, who barely acknowledged customers as they arrived.

One thing that immediately stood out was that the beverages are made behind a curtain, which struck me as unusual. It made me wonder if it's to hide how much (or how little) liquid goes into the cup. It reminded me of another shop where they heavily packed drinks with ice to give the illusion of a full cup.

To be fair, the flavors and textures were excellent—there’s no denying the quality of the ingredients. However, paying \$14 for what ended up being about 3 ounces of actual liquid is incredibly disappointing. I strongly recommend ordering with no ice if you want to get your money’s worth.

Got some drinks from Bambu today and all of my drinks were good except my 3 Bambu Specials! The longan that they put in the drink was YELLOW and nasty. (The longan is usually WHITE) It tasted like the smell of cigarettes if the smell of cigarettes was a flavor! The drink looked yellowish after I mixed it too. I didn’t try my drink until we were on the road already and it was disgusting! My brother and husband tried it and said it was nasty. I dont usually taste my drinks from Bambu because all the other times, my drinks were good. I was expecting this time to be the same. This time was very disappointing and now I will be trying my drinks before I leave the store. I would have gone back for new drinks or a refund if we weren’t already on the road to go home.
