So first I should mention I tried this place when they were at food truck fest at Summerfest and I was very impressed. I decided me and some friends would take a trip to the restaurant and the experience was horrible. First we get there and it wasn't really busy. It was us and maybe 2 or 3 other parties. We ordered and the food brought out was not warm at all. The waitress passed and asked how everything was and no one had touched their food because it was cold. So when she asked how it was before I could get a word out she said ok and walked away. I let it be and continued chatting with my friends. We asked for to go containers because no one wanted to eat their food cold but we also didn't want to make an issue out of it. This wasn't the bad part. The bad part was when we asked for the check the first young lady said she had to get someone else to get it. So we waited 10 minutes and still no check. We asked again and the younger girl that was in there told our waitress we wanted the check and the waitress snapped at her in front of everyone and said "I got it!" and continued to do whatever she was doing. I thought it was so rude for her to snap at that young lady because we asked for the check. So finally she leaves the check on the table and doesn't return so again the other young lady walked past and I asked if she knew where we were to pay. Our waitress over heard me asking the girl and said " now what!" again rude! The young lady told her what I asked her and she carried on again as if we weren't sitting there. So finally we went to the bar to ask if we could just pay there and leave. The bartender took the check and said let me see if I can catch her. He then gives her the check and she takes them and sit them down on the bar and start making drinks. By this time we were all annoyed because it has now been 50 minutes that we have been waiting to pay and leave. My one friend then says "can we just get our cards we need to go" the waitress is upset at this point and brings the book back with my card in it but instead of her handing it to me she flung it and it hit the floor and my card flew out. I just picked it up and signed the book and said I would never in my life visit this place again. And it's unfortunate because it is such a beautiful place inside. That was the first visit for us and also the last. The bartender did apologize and tell us to have a good day but that left a bad taste. Between receiving cold food and getting horrible service it is definitely not a place I would recommend for other people to go, unless they are ordering and doing a pick up. I don't recommend dining in. At least not with...
Read moreFirst of all...I know great food. I love to eat and create dishes of my own. But, my mother and uncle who have always both been great cooks themselves, had been "frequently" going to this place in Greenfield named Double B's BBQ, just to get away for some peace and good food, in a great environment, with good people. I remember after her first time, she was recommending that I seriously go and try this place. She specifically mentioned how well prepared and delicious that "everything was". Then gave a special shout out to The Pecan Pie, while rubbing her belly and a look of utopia on her face, all while licking her lips. My mother doesn't usually react this way to other people's cooking very often. Almost never. So last night February 24th about 8:00pm, I decided to call Double B's and Natalia answers with a professional and welcoming voice. It sounded extremely busy in the background even though they were closing at 10pm. Natalia made me comfortable that a spot at the Bar should open up as long as I was alone. She was 100% correct, as she was the first face to greet me when I arrived. Reservations are highly recommended. The place is obviously popular and deserves more accolades. No joke..I sat at the bar, and met Steve, to my left. He ordered The Double B's Burger that had great presentation along with an appetizing appeal. It looked good enough that I seriously considered ordering it to go. Steve disclosed that he frequently has been a customer since before Double B's relocated from the commercial space directly West (next door) of this slightly bigger space. Next, I was greeted by Nikki who gave me the rundown of the four signature sauces along with a tutorial of the flavors.I then received the menu. They had sold out of the ½ Chicken and The popular Pecan Pie. I did a two meat combo. Beef Brisket (God as my witness, was the best in flavor, texture, melted in my mouth, delicious). And the ½ Slab Baby Back Ribs that came with 2 sides and a cornbread muffin tipped with a decorative and soft/spreadable Butter. I had coleslaw and the 7-Cheese Mac & Cheese. I also met Jenni, who stepped in to assist when Nikki was busy serving with a smile. I also had a double of Bacardi and Lemonade on The Rocks, in a tall glass. They make a real drink! A single would have worked. They make a quality drink people. Hint, hint. And finally, I met the General Manager, Andy, who I observed all night, overseeing, and being hands on. I asked Andy who I can thank for this great food? He simply deferred to the Chef and crew, who were busy making these amazing dishes. In the voice of Arnold S. The Terminator. "I'LL BE BACK!"..With...
Read moreUghhhh,... The last time i was here was April 2022, for no other reason than it's a :30 minute drive to get here and there are adequate alternatives closer to my house. But i remember thoroughly enjoying my first time ;) This time, er, no.... I've had better ribs at Applebee's. I arrived just a few moments after 12:00 noon and they were busier than i would have thought, only opening at 11:00. I'd say just over half capacity. So not too bad. I was seated right away. Service was well done. The waiter was attentive but not annoying, if you know what i mean. My order came pretty quickly. Maybe 5 minutes after i ordered. Consisting of 1/2 slab Baby back ribs (comes with coleslaw and a cornbread muffin) I chose the BBQ Beans as my other side. The beans were good, the coleslaw was a small portion, but just enough in my opinion. The cornbread muffin was "cake-y," almost desert like. Not the grainy, sand consistency some might expect. Tasted great with the dollop of whipped butter. The ribs though. WAAAYYYYYYYYY over cooked. It was like chewing on a dog's Rawhide treat. There were moments i didn't know if i was chewing on bone or overcooked pork. My gums hurt from so much dried meat.Seriously. In hindsight, i should have sent them back. (didn't want to be "that guy.") Plus you don't know what you'll get in return. I'm guessing they were from the original batch put on in the morning, possibly left over from last night? Which, if true, presents another problem. Food safety. So either the cook is inexperienced, or lazy. So, congratulations, you didn't have to throw out a half slab of ribs. At the cost of a customer forever, and this customer's friends and family. Forever. I think i had two "good" bites, from near the center of it all. I could taste the spices of the Rub and the flavor from the smoke. There is potential there. But i'm not willing to chance a meal out on an iffy cook with poor food practices. The sauces were good. The dill pickles were good. (you get two dill chips with the meal) You can tell they're not from a can. Iced tea - Unsweet -was good. Tasted fresh. For desert i had "Chess pie." If you've ever been in the South they call it Buttermilk pie. Same thing. BB's adds a hint of Lemon in theirs. It was good. Tasted like every Buttermilk pie i've ever had, plus a bit of lemon. (not the skunky squeeze bottle stuff. Not Zest. Perhaps Lemon Extract in the mix?) Crust was light and flaky, like mom used to...
