UPDATE: The owner has now sought out my business page and left a negative review for services that he never received. This owner, Chris Paul, is intimidating and irrational. Please reconsider going here! This was our experience. We arrived for our 11:00 reservation for 12 for Easter Brunch, our annual tradition. Upon arriving, our table was not yet ready which was fine. Once we were brought to our table, we realized we needed one more chair. When we asked for an additional chair, we were met with an attitude from the waitress. She was clearly frazzled and frustrated, likely due to the disorganization of the days events. We were then told that we needed to move tables. As our party went to move, there was a child (approx 8-10 years old) that walked between the table and our group. The waitress aggressively grabs the child on both shoulders and shoves him away from the crowd. We were shocked! I then told her that it was “horribly inappropriate” for her to handle a child in that way. She replied that it was her own son which clearly didn’t make the situation any better. We decided at that point to move to the other table which was too small for our group but we decided to sit anyway because in the waitresses words “you aren’t going to find anywhere else to go”. We got a new waitress who was very kind. We placed our drinks orders and even cracked a couple jokes with her. (Unrelated to any of the controversy) At that point, we got up to head to the buffet line. I won’t even get into how poorly organized the set up was. We were definitely surprised at the illogical setup as again, this is an annual tradition for us. As we are standing in line, all 12 of us, the man came up to us and told us that we could leave if we were unhappy and he would refund our money, which we hadn’t yet paid. At this time, we did not know he was the owner. He was extremely aggressive and condescending toward multiple members of our group. When I asked him his name, in a calm and polite manner, he refused to provide it. He continued to berate and embarrass us in front of a whole room full of guests. He then said that he was going to call the cops to have us removed for being disrespectful. We told him to go ahead as we had not done anything wrong other than calling out the original waitress for shoving the child. That’s when he told us that is his wife and child and that the kid “knew better” than to come downstairs as he was supposed to stay upstairs in the arcade. We all left the building and waited for the police to arrive. They quickly realized that this was a giant waste of time and certainly didn’t require this type of escalation. The West Allis Police Department was kind and professional. It probably didn’t hurt that we happened to have a retired cop and sheriff in our group. I have never witnessed or been a part of something like this. We were embarrassed and were incredibly uncomfortable during the entire interaction. Yes, I made my feelings clear but never were we disruptive or disrespectful despite the owner’s interpretation of the situation especially since he didn’t witness any of the initial interaction. On a brighter note, Caminos West Allis gladly took our family for a wonderful meal. It was affordable, delicious, and the service was excellent. We may just make that our...
Read moreThis is probably the worst breakfast in Milwaukee, and I do not think that is an exaggeration. This buffet is an example of someone opening a restaurant who doesn't actually want to cook anything, and then just hoping nobody notices. 95% of the options are processed food that comes out of a can, freezer, or box. A hotel's continental breakfast could not be any worse, or require less effort. Canned hollandaise sauce (which the manager initially said was fresh) emptied into a serving dish meets generic English muffins that failed to toast 4x through the machine. They could not even be bothered to use fresh strawberries for the yogurt bar, so the opted for frozen and diced (I'm not sure they have any chef knives in the kitchen). They probably did brown the bacon in house, but they did not remove one container to replace it with the next. They just dumped one clump of newly browned bacon on top of the pile of hours old bits, so most people just made due with crumbs of various ages.
Frozen breakfast potatoes? Check. Cinnamon rolls from a cannister of Pillsbury dough? Of course. And who doesn't love frozen pizza for breakfast? The eggs are clearly made sous vide, in one bag, so they may start out roughly poached. But then they are dumped in a heated bin for the day, and they are a rock hard mass requiring some egg parts be cut from the whole with a spoon. I requested new eggs from the manager and got two delivered from the kitchen, while everyone else (my husband included) were left with the egg bake mess.
When we arrived, we were just dumped at a table, left with some dirty silverware (both sets) servers could be bothered to look at before wrapping. Nobody ever offered menu or took an order, so I assume the brunch buffet is the only option. After realizing nobody else was going to come, and seeing the person who sat us leave 10 minutes later, we figured we were on our own. We found someone to order bloody Marys from. What we got was glasses with cheap vodka delivered with instructions to go to the bloody Mary bar and make our own. For $10 more, they would have made them unlimited. Because even making drinks is out of this place's repertoire. They opted for store bought bloody Mary mix, the cheapest rail booze, and told people to just go wild. We had them make us drinks instead, which I'm sure was just someone else pouring the store bought mix into our previously rejected vodka-ice glasses.
Milwaukee has been raising its foodie profile for decades. It has a world class brunch scene at this point. Choosing this Roundys restaurant version of brunch might well be the worst option available.
I waited a while week after the visit to consider if I was being too harsh here? I am not. Just go literally anywhere else, and you probably won't do any worse. How could you right? Boxed and frozen food, disinterested service, served in dirty silverware, with a drink you need to make yourself, is just about the least a restaurant can possibly offer right? And the manager had the nerve to seem offended when I was less than enthusiastic. She asked, "What's the difference?" regarding sausage gravy (rehydrated from a packet). One is worth paying for at a restaurant, but this place won't be around long enough...
Read moreI really wish zero stars were an option. First I would like to say it was our first bad experience with them but it was absolutely horrible! For Easter we went to Reunion Restaurant in West Allis. We had a reservation for 11am. We were told to be there 15 minutes early. There were 9 of us + a high chair. We did request a high chair when the reservation was made. We got there 15 minutes early like they asked. Our table was not ready until after 11:30. So we had to wait in a very busy restaurant standing around with a toddler and a baby. When we got there we were told once we were seated we had 90 minutes. That was never mention when the rest was booked. They over booked so they wanted people in and out. Whatever. The problem is when they sat us they couldn't give us silverware because they had no clean silverware. We waited over 15 minutes for silverware. The table were so jam packed together they couldn't give us a high chair become one wouldn't fit. Our table was along the wall. The table next to us on both sides were going the opposite way. Every time something got up from that table they bumped our table. The teenage girl that was sitting by me kept flinging her hair which literally hit me at one point because we were seated so closely. I was at the end seat. Anytime I wanted to get up to go to the buffet the people at the table next to me had to get up so I could get out. Then I finally gave up because they couldn't keep up with their buffet so when I went up there was either no food or no clean dishes. With the buffet you got free coffee and soda or one free bloody or mimosa. None of us had the alcohol and some of the group only had water. But because my 3 year old granddaughter clearly isn't allowed to have coffee, soda a bloody or a mimosa we ordered her apple juice and they charged us $3.49 for a kids apple juice. I just found out today that someone came to the table after the bill was paid and asked my son why we gave them a thumbs down. Like are kidding me. There was alsi a situation where the owner became loud with another customer. They had a young child running the Easter egg hunt. The list continues to go on. This was literally the worst dining experience I have ever had. Service, food and atmosphere & management were all horrible. I originally didn't post a review because I am not the person to bash a small business. However yesterday they made a post about their Mother's Day brunch and I made the comment asking if things would be different from Easter and they blocked me from their Facebook page. Maybe they should consider making their customers comfortable instead of being greedy and...
